@Veritas13 Yes we are OOS for the Duquesne/Temple program.
There is a difference between the description from danceprincess and JBS. If there are enough seats for admitted students as long as they meet GPA and MCAT requirements, it is considered guaranteed and only the student can blow the opportunity.
If they admit 30 students and only 20 can make it (it sounds like a lot lower here), it is ABSOLUTELY NOT guaranteed.
@Veritas13 @texaspg @jb9832 The guyâs name is Brian Switay. I asked the woman I was on the phone with if every student in the program would be able to attend NJMS given that they maintain a certain GPA and fulfill all the requirements, and she said thereâs still no guarantee and that everyone is able to apply out in case they do not get accepted by NJMS after the three years.
@danceprincess124, if you go here this is from 2010 so the only thing that has changed is the GPA requirement to 3.5 instead of 3.4

Accelerated Three-Year/Seven-Year Programs
The following options leading to combined degrees with a prestigious area medical school or dental school are available through our accelerated three-year programs. Admission to these programs is highly competitive. The requirements are listed in the âApplying for Admission to Stevensâ section of this catalog.
The Combined B.S.-M.D. Program gives you the opportunity to earn the B.S. degree in one of the sciences at Stevens and the M.D. degree at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) - New Jersey Medical School in a total of seven years. If you are a high school senior who has demonstrated academic excellence and a promise for a career in medicine, you can be considered for the B.S.-M.D. program. If accepted to this program, you must complete three years in the Accelerated Chemical Biology program with a GPA of at least 3.40 and obtain acceptable scores on the MCAT exam. Promotion to the medical school is automatic without further application. Stevens awards the B.S. degree upon successful completion of the first year of medical studies.
@danceprincess124â oh yeah Brian was my interviewer⊠He told me that it was a guaranteed program.
@jb9832, @danceprincess124, @PinkPrincess2014 It would be good to know the truth about the #offers given by Stevens and the #spots NJMS has for Stevens (at the end of their 3-year period at Stevens). Interestingly, in the 2014-15 catalog (http://www.stevens.edu/catalog/undergrad/Approaches_to_Learning.html), the sentence about automatic entry into the medical school has been taken out. The paragraph now reads as follows (it still looks like a âguaranteedâ program. Also, it is not clear what an âacceptable MCAT scoreâ is. The NJMS website says that MCAT must be taken, but that the MCAT scores are not considered in the final admission.
"Accelerated Seven-Year Programs in Medicine
The Combined B.S.-M.D. Program gives you the opportunity to earn the B.S. degree in Chemical Biology at Stevens and the M.D. degree at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in a total of seven years. If you are a high school senior who has demonstrated academic excellence, in the top 10% of your class, with a combined SAT score of at least 1400 and a promise for a career in medicine, you can be considered for the B.S.-M.D. program. Admission to this program is highly competitive, and an interview at both Stevens and the medical school is required. If accepted to this program, you must complete three years in the Accelerated Chemical Biology program with a GPA of at least 3.50, grades in all of the premed courses at least B (not B-) or above, and you obtain acceptable scores on the MCAT exam. Stevens awards the B.S. degree upon successful completion of the first year of medical studies."
The best source to ask regarding the requirements for the promotion to the medical school portion of the combined program is the students who are already in the program. They are most frank about the reality of the program and attriution rate of the program as well.
I would think this would have to be a guaranteed program because if you were not advanced on to the Med School, how are you going to get your B.S. (Since it is awarded âupon successful completion of the first year of medical studiesâ)?
Has anyone received an interview notification or denial from the villanova-drexel BSMD? Does anyone know when we can expect to hear anything or by what means of communication will the message be conveyed?
@collegePapaâ I donât know how they send acceptances but I will find out and let you know! All I know for sure is interview invites come out mid-Jan, so hopefully any day now. I think FAME takes a little longer to get back to students after the interview to tell them who is accepted into the program compared to most other Texan programs thoughâŠGood luck!
@bsmd14, in your own link (thanks for finding 2014-2015, I had difficulty finding it for some reason), Stevens awards the B.S. after successful completion of the first year of medical school, so I would think there would have to be some sort of guarantee assuming you meet MCAT and GPA requirements.
is there anybody that applied to brown plme rd and has not heard back from brown at all? i never got an email about an applicant id etc.
am i the only one?
thx:)
