***Official Thread for 2016 BSMD applicants***

@GoldenRock thanks. I wasn’t going to apply to it before, but my guidance counselor recommended it and when I looked into it I discovered it’s actually a pretty great program. Add that to my fatal flaw (procrastination), it is not really surprising that i’m asking about this 5 day before.

@Dadofhskid I think it can be an english teacher from any four years (although I’m not sure, might want to check that out). Also, make sure you call Boston and talk to them about the misunderstanding, because I think the november 15th deadline of the three paper recommendations was strict.

I agree with the fact that it can be a teacher from any previous years.

About GW… I remember reading in the previous years’ threads that you don’t have to apply to he Honors program. Hence applying to the Honors program is optional. I did not apply to their Honors program. I hunk there are a couple of extra essays and I didn’t want to write them. Correct me if I am wrong.

GW web site is not one of the best site. Any how Honors college is optional and not connected to the BS/MD program.

Since my D school has extreme restrictions, I did the home work few months back with most of the schools which wanted separate LOR for the MD program office like Boston, Northwestern, Temple, Alabama, VCU, PSU, Pitts etc etc., Unfortunately none of them agreed to some how take or get a copy from the UG office the LOR and insisted we need to request teacher/counselor/any one to send it to them. Add to the wound, still many schools need only by postal, or fax etc., One of the postal LOR to Pitts is lost and we are scrambling to fix it since already she is accepted for UG with full tuition (though she may or may not get interview for MD program). Bottom line, make sure to read every instruction clearly and follow it. Good luck to all.

Do I even have a chance? Please help guys, i dont know if im wasting my time and effort on this for no reason

Please let me know what you think! Your advice and opinions would help me out so much!

Since regular reader of this forum, based on the various postings, you have equal chance and should apply if you are passionate about medicine. But review the instructions and deadlines, since some of the programs you have mentioned are past deadline, like Drexel, Kent, Howard. Also most of the programs need special processing, separate application, LOR etc you need to ensure you have enough time to line up those documents. Good luck.

How long did it take you all to get accepted regular undergrad to Alabama? Because I submitted the application Nov. 10th and still no word yet.

@tunetheday, I had called them. They said it takes them 3 days to review a file and give decision. You should call them ASAP. You need to be admitted by Dec 1 to their Honors college. They are very friendly and helpful. Mention that you want to apply to their EMSAP program… They will expedite the process. Did you get the credential to log in? What does the status say?

wait so the deadline for alabama already passed??

@gettingdat2400, their deadline is weird. You had to be admitted to their undergraduate college by Dec 1. So that means you should send in you undergrad app well before that. Then once admitted you can apply to the EMSAP program for which the deadline is Dec 15

Just to clarify. It is true that you must be admitted to UAB before you can apply to their MD program EMSAP. But you don’t have to apply or accepted to their Honors college. It is optional and has no dependency. EMSAP deadline including getting LOR, resume, essay is Dec 15th.

@GoldenRock , you are right. I got confused with NJIT requirement.

@goaltobemd, you are right it turns out I was accepted a while ago but that it just posted my acceptance on the UAB login, not emailed me acceptance like I expected.

Nyello everyone! I’m applying to BS/MD programs this year. So far, I’ve applied to the ones at Drexel/Drexel, Muhlenberg/Drexel, BU, Rochester, George Washington, Rice, Case Western, and have started apps for Northwestern and Brown… I’m DYING…

But! Anyway! I was wondering… of course if I get into one of the top-tier ones like Rice and Northwestern, or even the pretty-much-top-tier ones like BU (which is my first choice ;u; pleASE), I would go. However… do y’all still think it would be worth it to go to something like, say, one of the Drexel ones? Their medical school is ranked really, really low by the usnews report… and i’ve heard that George Washington medical school was put on academic probation a few years ago, etc…

Like, in terms of those programs with below-top-fifty medical schools, wouldn’t it kinda be more worth it to go to undergraduate and try from there? After all, who knows what kind of residency you would get after one of those medical schools…

What do you guys think? :open_mouth:

@agirlinasweater This Is Most Debated Topic On This forum. Go to low end medical school with guarantee bs md vs. regular route with better under grad school and get in better medical school to get better residency. Both parties have for and against arguments. both are very valid from each point of view. Search forums and read. Ask your heart and decide for yourself which was your heart leans more towards.

@GoldenRock. Has Howard deadline passed for BS MD Program application? I found very little information on it for application process.

can someone who already got into a bs/md read my essay?

@Dadofhskid Howard MD app deadline is 3/1. But you should have got the UG acceptance before that. Also be prepared to send Tx, Test reports, LOR 2 times, 1 to UG app and 1 to MD app. Here are the pointers.
MD:http://www.coas.howard.edu/preprofessionaleducation/services.htm
UG: https://www.howard.edu/enrollment/apply/

Great ! Thanks for info @GoldenRock. appears we still have time to apply for this one- Howard. to qualify for this one, is there a contract you have to sign to service under pivililedged areas after becoming doctor? what is the catch? this appears 6 year program and requirements are so low? 26 ACT? 1950 SAT? 3.5 GPA? what is the catch?

@Dadofhskid I think that those score are just the minimums…there might be a site that shows the average scores of the accepted students???

Hi all!!! I hope you guys are having a fun time applying for all these schools…just wanted to say good luck to all as we approach the waiting game lol!!!
