@ivy0705 We are in state and Uconn medical school is in my town.I think we should create facebook page just for Uconn Spim students
@cresent That will be great. We are in New England area too. Most likely son is going to Uconn. He loved the campus and the programâs flexibility during UG stage. Thanks.
@Joobycooby @ivy0705 Thanks! Today has been fantastic, just been coasting. I am OOS as well
Congratulations to everyone who got in so far into the BS/BA-MD programs & Good luck to the rest who are waiting to get their first admission (like me).
Any one in the group applied to BS-DO programs? I got into CCOM and LECOM, any thoughts on these programs?
Also CCOM gave a deadline of 4th April to commit for the program, but I am not sure if Union-Albany will give out their results by that timeâŠ
@jt4321 read last yearâs thread. There was a Texas parent whose son was applying to these schools.
Has anyone received Stony Brook Scholars for Medicine Interview?If yes,by snail mail or email?Thanks!
Congrats to all those got accepted at UConn SiPM.
UC San Diego and UC Davis made admission decisions today. UCLA next Friday 3/18 and UCB probably 3/25.
In case if any one would like to know the admission dates for any UG colleges

Does anybody know when we have to accept admission for Penn State/Jefferson by? I canât see any date on my penn state account, and I donât want to accidentally accept admission so I donât want to click on the âFollow this link to accept your offer of admissionâ button.
@nutella19 I believe itâs May 1st. You can go ahead and click the button it will only bring you to the fee payment page.
@texaspg thank you! Will check last years threads.
In case if we accept a college and pay the deposit and later on get admission into another program, is there a way to back out of the accepted college? Especially when the deadline to accept is in April where other decisions are not out until later? Thank you for reading my questions.
Any idea when Drexel will start sending their decisions?
Word of advice:
It is important to start early and show CONSISTENCY of medically related activities. Programs can forgive slightly low test scores if you show consistency and passion in your activies.
@Joobycooby Thanks!
Got rejected from REMS after the interviewânot even waitlisted!! I was rightâŠthis WAS the rejection that hurt the most ;-; And it looked like a really nice, cozy program, tooâguess it just wasnât for me!! Seems a tiny bit cruel to invite all the students for such a great and informative weekend and then reject mostâŠbut anyway! It was fun and I have no complaints. No use crying over spilled BSMD. Good luck to everyone who got in and all who were waitlisted!!
This has made me very nervous over the Boston University BSMD notification, tooâIâm getting a lot of âhave I been doing interviews wrong all this time?â worries, especially since it is the only program so far apart from REMS that impressed me!!
Additionally I went to my Drexel BSMD interview, and was not too impressed. Everything seemed kind of sloppy; I got the feeling that they didnât reeeally care all that much about the program, and just slapped together an info session and tour in five minutes. I mean, for Godâs sake, the tour guide took all the prospective students and parents into the GROSS ANATOMY LAB. I guessâŠso everyone could oggle the entrails onâŠthe tablesâŠ? .___. And since I didnât want to be that One Kid who stays outside, I went in⊠and boy, was I not 200% ready for that! I mean, itâs not like I fainted or was traumatized or anything, but the image of those sad shapes under the covers with the sheet sticking up where the feet are kind of floated around in my head all through the interview and the rest of the day. I mean, yikes, Drexel, I know Iâm going to do this in four years, butâŠis this really the best best time? Now?
Not to mention the dumb, dumb essay questionâI felt like I was in third grade again! And the rushed interview, and the mind-numbingly boring info session too. just felt like Drexel didnât careâand I guess itâs kind of silly and pompous to expect a medical school to give a hoot about a bunch of hopeful kids getting a good impression, but it seemed like the other BSMD programs Iâve interviewed with did, and I feel that tells me a lot about the kind of support I would get if I enrolled.
I never thought Iâd say this, but I am 90% sure I would choose pre-med track over BSMD if the BSMD is Drexelâs.
Would be really curious to hear whether other Drexel BSMD interviewees agree or not!! Maybe Iâm being a little shallow about the whole experience (I mean, an almost automatic acceptance into a U.S. medical school is not something to toss out lightly!) but if anyone got similar vibes from itâŠ?
Agirlinasweater
Is this concept bsmd what you want ?
I feel it is a personal answer
The programs are there to teach medical student and not cater or entertain a small cohort which makes up small% of class
@bearchichi
Hahaâgot to agree with that!! ^___^ I just wonder whether the quality of the interview day says something about the quality of the medical school, in terms of quality of teaching and guidance you receive as a Drexel medical student.
Quick question (from an underclassman): My school requires only puts a weighted GPA on the transcript, so what should I shoot for? As of now, a poopy freshman year makes it that I could have only gotten a 3.9 UW (with Aâs the rest of highschool), but I would have a 4.5-4.6. Will this weighted GPA hide my freshman year struggle of straight B+'s?
When I say hide, I donât mean literally hide (since freshman year grades are posted on transcript), but will it show colleges that I had an impressive curve and will they forgive the B+'s freshman year?
@neophite
Not sure about BSMD programs in general but some UG schools donât count any freshman year grades (e.g. Stanford) others donât count non-core academic courses (e.g. electives). In any case, do not let your freshman year grades discourage you from applying/pursuing your MD dreams. Having an upward movement in your GPA is also commendable.
@agirlinasweater The level of entitlement you display in your rant above is disturbing, and exactly who programs are looking to weed out. If your interviewing skills in any way resemble the attitude you have here, I would not be expecting to receive any offers to medical schools this year, or any time in the future.
