***Official Thread for 2017 BSMD applicants***

@srk2017 I am not sure about UG. I heard they can be quiet generous. But, out of the REMS kids- the max for 2016 batch was 21K for freshman year.

Thanks @narkor

@swim1128 @narkor Thank you very much!

Hey guys, i applied to the UMKC program but I got an email this morning saying that my application was not completed but when I checked my application status on the UMKC med supplement portal, it says that my general university has been received but that it has not been processed yet. Anyone else in the same boat?

@str82med Suggest you post in UMKC thread also and you may get a response.

I am not surprised because UMKC has some weird way of processing the app.

Does anyone know about how UPitt letters of recommendation work? Are they mailed to the school? Also, should they be tailored to medicine?

GAPadmissions@medschool.pitt.edu isn’t working for me. :frowning:

Has anyone heard from St. Bonaventure-GWU yet? their emails seem to have gone out about this time last year, and wondering when they’ll be sending emails this year.

I think St. Bonaventure-GWU was due December 1 so it would be too early to receive emails from them

Did any of you get an interview invite to Baylor2 Track? I just got rejected and am very confused
36 ACT, 4.97 GPA, shadowing, volunteering, research, the works
is it cuz I’m OOS

How do you guys think about the Hofstra BS MD program? Are students graduated fro this program easy to find match for residency?

Does anyone have data for how many applicants each program invites for interview and how many of those applicants get accepted?

@chocolatina1001 this was something someone posted last year that was useful and accurate. I am reposting

Admissions
I have covered most program if not all here for 2015 acceptances or 2014 acceptance, where 2015 data was not available. Read it as follows. In state, Out State, Total. Number of applicant, Interviewed, enrolled (This is not accepted, accepted student number could be higher) Along with GPA. SAT. ACT data for average student accepted for the program (This is not requirement, it is average of students accepted. Requirement to apply may be lower), where ever it was published. Here you go. Store it for future reference, so you don’t have to search this thread all the time.

@RochesterREMS my son got the invite today. Sorry to hear about your reject. I am surprised with your scores and GPA you got rejected. We are Instate. He has 36 ACT and 1600 SAT (reading + math), 4.0 unweighted GPA. Research and Volunteer exp. Pretty much same credentials as you.
Did anyone else got the invite. What to expect on that day.

@RochesterREMS Just hang in tight till Mid April. Hope you have applied to few variety of programs. Some thing will work out. Forget Baylor. Finish up any apps if not done and prepare for other potential interviews. GL.

@RochesterREMS remember Baylor/ Baylor and Rice/ Baylor have just 5-6 positions each. Comparitively, the chances of getting in are fairly slim even if invited for an interview. Like @GoldenRock said pull yourself together and keep going because there are many more results to come and something will work out. Keep in mind though it is not just the scores or resume that is important but there is a big “human” factor - the one reading your application. Like everything “human” the readers wants/ needs and thoughts are unpredictable. So, bottom line the process of admissions is not dictated by a defined specific aspect. Just get prepared for the rest of the apps and interviews and don’t delve too much into analyzing the outcome- it is absolutely unpredictable. If you get a chance read my posts on the 2016 results page. Keep your spirits high in the sky and good luck!

I’m a senior in high school applying to bsmd programs. My gpa unweighted is 3.94 weighted is 4.65. Sat score is 1320. Act is 30. Have done 200+ hours volunteering at hospital in PACU, ICU, and Seniors Emergency Room. I am CPR and BLS certified. I got my certified nursing assistant license from Maryland board of nursing through my school end of junior year. It is a real license, to work as a cna I need to be 18 and have a high school diploma. So Senior year I have an internship at hospital on cardiac intermediate care unit. I go after school two days a week for 4 hours each (8 hours a week). I intern as a certified nursing assistant doing everything a certified nursing assistant does (bed baths, vitals, remove catheters, etc.) I work well with the nurses, phlebotomists, pharmacist, and doctors. I have attended codes, brought patients down to ICU, cleaned up dead bodies, and comforted family members. I also did an internship at uniformed services university of the health and sciences at walter reed military center where i shadowed an emergency room physician, learned suturing, visited val g hemmings stimulation center at navy base, stood in the room to see a skin graft, and talked with the dean of the medical school and dean of admissions. I do want to join the military as a physician. I have seen open heart surgery at inova and plastic surgery at walter reed.
I am applying to these bs/md programs

  1. Brown plme
  2. Penn states
  3. Drexels
  4. Stony Brooke’s
  5. University of Toledos (got accepted for undergraduate. applied for bsmd)
  6. University of Pittsburgh (accepted undergraduate. Waiting to hear back)
  7. Howard university’s

What are my chances of getting into these schools? I know my act/sat scores are not the best but does my commitment in medicine seen through my certified nursing assistant license help my chances?

@screenname2017 Congratulations on what you have done. Good planning and hard work. Good GPA. Test score alone can not pull you down. You have a very good chance for BS/MD. If time permits, apply for few more BS/MD since some times you never know what and how each program selects. What is your resident state? Did you apply for any BS/MD program there? GL.

@screenname2017 - IMHO, If there is such a thing as a shoo-in for BSMD, it would be yours. Congratulations on your commitment to service and best wishes for you to realize your career dream!
