Official Thread for Duke Class of 2017!

Anyone applying for ED?

I’m applying ED to Duke!

I am applying ED to Trinity.

Yup. ED to Trinity

Yes, DD is applying ED to Pratt

ED to Trinity!!!

Most likely going for Pratt ED. Not too sure about my chances after reading some of these threads though.

What are your test scores??

My SAT I is probably a little lower than the rest of you Duke ED CCers.

SAT I: 2290 (retaking in October)
SAT Subject Tests: Chemistry - 800, Math Level 2 - 800, US History - 800

@RahulKShah I do not think that 2290 will be below most aplicants, haha. But it is below me! However, you completely trashed me in the SAT ii’s. 2310 SAT I, SAT II: Literature: 740 Math 2: 730. Retaking in october though!

And I am also applying ED!

Yeah, I know I’m probably higher than most APPLICANTS. I was talking about CC applicants.

You know, the brainiacs and superhumans?

DD is having second thoughts and I think will apply RD not ED

One less person to compete with! Kidding, hopefully she’ll realize what she would be giving up, and get in regular decision!

Heehee, Wired  Good luck to you!! We shall see what she finally decides…

Whoo hoo!! Good to see people here! My son will be applying ED to Pratt. We all want this so badly… I cannot imagine how great it would be on one hand to hear that your child got into their dream school BEFORE Christmas, and on the other hand, I cannot imagine how horrible it could be to find out your child did NOT get into their dream school only 10 days before Christmas, and two weeks before all RD apps are due… all the apps for the schools which all seemed to pale when compared to dream school (which in this case is obviously Duke!!) Deep breath and cross that bridge when and if we come to it… Pratt has about a 31% accept rate ED (it was 36% last year…) so the odds are good, right?

Anyone willing to comment on the topics of their app portions, or is anyone submitting supplemental stuff? Do you believe the Duke Admissions officers who claim they do not track visits? The director of club sports seemed to indicate, “Yeah, they say that, but it never hurts to show your face a bit more” So I might go to an info session that I already have all the answers to and it feel lame and sneaky. And I’m not sure if I want to go. Gotta think about that one.

Can we keep this thread going as students start getting interviews? I’m so interested in what they will be like!

OK… I"ll calm down now. And again… I"m just the mom!

SAT I: 2240 superscored
SAT Subject Tests: Chemistry - 780, Math Level 2 - 730, US History - 790
ACT: 36 Composite

I’m not sending any of the SAT stuff. Should I still report them on the common app?

I submitted my ED application yesterday. And now the waiting game begins… suspenseful music

Does anyone have an idea of how long it typically takes to get a call for an interview?

^Interviews for the ED round are typically conducted through mid-November. It depends on the regional alumni coordinator and interviewer as to how quickly they contact you, but they typically don’t make the assignments until near the end of October, IIRC.

I’m applying ED as well! When should you actually submit your application, how far before nov 1?

^It depends on whether or not you wish to have an interview. If you do, turn it in by October 19th.
