Official Thread for Transfer Applicants to Michigan- Winter 2016

I got accepted to LSA as well. Just checked Wolverine Access like 5 minutes ago. I applied to LSA as a freshman, so I think my stats don’t really matter. I applied on 5th September! Good luck to everyone else

Has anyone who applied to Kines heard back yet?

@mcnuggets1 I have not :frowning: Waiting patiently

Does anyone know how much time does it take to process the I-20 visa?

They said Kines should hear back by November 15 or earlier. So I’m assuming it has to be sometime within the next few days.

This is kind of a dumb question… but does anyone know where we are supposed to go to sign in and check our emails from Michigan? Im not talk about your personal email. I’m talking about the email you get when you sign up for your uniqname? The email you make is something like uniqname@umich.edu. My question is where do you go to type that in a view an inbox with all the emails they send you? Thanks!

Never mind I figured it out! For anyone who is curious it is a gmail account so you just go type it in on gmail(:

Anyone got in LSA? I’m anxiously waiting for a decision (applied for Economics).

I was accepted to LSA about two weeks ago as a winter transfer. I am a sophomore applicant, and applied both as a freshman and as a fall 2015 transfer applicant.

Congratulations to everyone else who was admitted!

I do have some housing questions:

  1. Northwood 3 seems like a relatively cheap alternative for this semester. What is the general opinion of it?

  2. Out of the central campus dorms, do transfer students ever live there, or are they only for freshmen?

I got accepted into Kines on 11/13

@detroitnr1 I was told that North campus is for engineering students whereas Central is more general for LSA students. I was accepted into LSA and I’ve opted to place a preference for Central campus on my housing app. I figured its the best place to meet a bunch of people. I’m hoping I end up in one of the “nicer” dorms ie. North, South, or West Quad.

Also, are you from Detroit or is that just your username? You don’t have to answer if you don’t want to! I’m just curious because I currently attend a 4-year college in Detroit and I don’t know of many people transferring out of here and into Michigan. (:

Hello! I am currently a Cadet at a Senior Military College but due to illness in my family I’m considering transferring into the LSA @ UofM to be closer to home. I have never applied to UofM before. I appreciate all of the help and opinions in advance!

CLASS: First semester sophomore
CURRENT MAJOR: Biochem & psych minor
GPA: 3.29
CREDITS: 76 at the end of spring semester 2016
ACT: 34 (I don’t think this even matters)
EC: … hold on
NCAA D1 Wrestling starter as a freshmen (I quit the team sophomore year)
Independent research publication in major journal for molecular genetics
Dean’s List award for Fall 2014 semester (assuming fall 2015 & Spring 2016 as well)
Department of Biology Outstanding Freshmen Fall Semester 2015 (only one)
300+ community service hours
Student tutor for Genetics and Organic chem
Pre-med, FCA, and Ethics in Science club members
Legacy & In-state

It is obvious that my limiting factor is my GPA. My second semester freshmen year GPA was ~2.5 because we started traveling every week for wrestling and I couldn’t stay caught up in my classes. In my fall semester freshmen year I earned a 4.0 and I have a 4.0 with 20 credit hours this semester and will be taking 23 credits next semester (3 credits will be for replacement in one of my classes from the year previous)… Just to reiterate, I no longer compete in my sport so that I can focus more on my academics. My essays will be excellent and I have many faculty and internship leaders that can write me good letters of recommendation. I am really at an impasse between having to take time off of school or going to MSU (ugh…) if I’m not accepted for the Fall 2016.

Any advice or comments are helpful! Thanks again for your time.

Anybody hear back today?

@bulldog313 If you can manage to get a 4.0 this semester I think you would have a good shot. UMich loves high GPA’s, so focus on your schoolwork!

@mganxx I’m from metro Detroit. Go to State.

Did anyone hear back today?

@delab95 Nope. Did you?

@wolv13 no :frowning: I’m anxiously waiting… we should hear back this week, right? are you an international student too?

@hail2018 congrats! I was accepted also to Kines. I got an email last friday but there is no “view decision” in wolverine access so I don’t know really what to do now. Pay the deposit? sign up for orientation?

@walter03 Awesome! Congratulations to you as well! In my email it said it would take 3-5 days to reflect the acceptance in Wolverine Access. When it shows up in Wolverine Access that is when you pay your deposit and sign up for orientation I believe! Waiting patiently now for it to show up…!
