Do your official transcripts look exactly like your unofficial transcripts except maybe a word or two where it says it's official? I've never seen my official transcript.

Generally yes, usually along with more information about grade scale, codes/abbreviations, contact info, and of course the school seal. If you’re worried, you can order a copy for yourself, usually for less than $35.

Sent from my SCH-I535 using CC

Effectively the same document, unless your university has a peculiar policy on the matter. If that were the case, you would know and you wouldn’t have to ask.

I was just curious and it relates to one of my questions I will ask. I have never seen mine. I don’t care to see it if I have to pay money.

Does it show class rank?

Also, one program I am applying for requires official transcripts. The instructions didn’t make sense to me. I pasted the instructions below verbatim (yes I noticed the spelling error too):
Official university transcript (mandatory document). (No unofficial transcripts are accepted! Please open the sealed envelope of the official tanscript if necessary.) (only pdf, max. 5MB)

They’re supposed to be uploaded. They’re asking me to open the seal. By attaching the file in the application, they’re implying I should scan(assuming I ordered a hard copy and not an electronic one) and attach the scanned official transcript. But doesn’t all this ruin the purpose of an official transcript? I thought the seal is what was important because once I open the envelop, couldn’t I change the contents of the transcript? Or is there like some big stamp or something that verifies it’s official. Maybe I’m ignorant and have no idea what I’m talking about.

Once school seal (sticker or tape) that closes the envelope comes undone it’s not official no more. You could think of it as yourself not wanting to utilize a condom with wrapper open from the store, I hope.

School don’t want to mess with broken seal transcripts.
