<p>[ b]Objective:**
[ *] SAT I (breakdown): 730M 730CR 770W (2 sittings no super score)
[ *] ACT: 32 (only took it once to see how I liked it)
[ *] SAT II: sent all 4- 680Bio E, 700 Mii, (both bad), 750 Mi, 760chem
[ *] Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 95.875/100 unweighted
[ *] Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): top 16/160
[ *] AP (place score in parenthesis): chem (5), Bio (4), Stats (5), Lang (5)
[ *] IB (place score in parenthesis): Haven't taken yet
[ *] Senior Year Course Load: AP Physics, AP Macro (online), AP Calculus BC, AP spanish, AP Lit, IB History HL, Band
[ *] Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): National honor society, ap scholar w/ honor, phi beta kappa book award, corner stones of science essay winner, robotics design award, special outdoors certification for my state that involved my entire sophomore summer, music convention type thing where you have to audition and then you go play with the best in your area.</p>

<p>[ /list][ b]Subjective:**
[ *] Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): An after school jazz band, a youth court type of organization that I helped bring to my school, nordic skiing for 4 years, alpine skiing for 4 years, drama for last two years, tennis for 4 years, soccer for first 2 years.
[ *] Job/Work Experience: worked on a farm for first two years during summer. Last year worked at an amazing summer camp that'd I'd been going to for years.
[ *] Volunteer/Community service: Lots of hours at my summer camp. Also, lots of hours from the youth court.
[ *] Summer Activities: Did the outdoor thing I mentioned above. Was a huge challenge; involved doing 21 different tests related to the outdoors (axemanship, canoeing, wet day fires). Really proud of that one.
[ *] Essays: Good on all fronts. I was worried they weren't personal enough/weren't detailed enough. They were a lot more philosophical than introspective, if that makes sense. I liked them but I could have done better.
[ *] Teacher Recommendation: Only sent in one. I could have sent more, but this teacher loved me enough (that sounds terrible) that I wasn't worried. We have a great relationship in school, and we've even played tennis together outside it. Great teacher and probably a great recommendation.
[ *] Counselor Rec: Good.
[ *] Additional Rec: None.
[ *] Interview: None.
[ *] Supplementary Material: None.</p>

<p>[ /list][ b]Other**
[ *] State (if domestic applicant): ME
Country (if international applicant):
[ *] School Type: public
[ *] Ethnicity: white
[ *] Gender: F
[ *] Income Bracket(mention if FA candidate): about 100,000, but applied for FA
[ *] Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): none</p>

<p>[ /list][ b]Reflection**
[ *] Strengths: I'm extremely well rounded. I've got the music, the sports, the outside hobby (outdoors) and good scores/grades.
[ *] Weaknesses: Not the best SATIIs, but I think that's where the holistic approach comes in. My APs show I'm great at learning material for an important test. My essays also weren't off the wall amazing.
[ *] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Strengths.
[ *] Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: ED so no where!
[ *] If rejected, where are you looking now?</p>

<p>[ /list][ b]General Comments: **
I'm literally so excited to be a Jumbo! I knew from the moment I stepped on campus, Tufts was the place for me!</p>

I am ecstatic to be going to Tufts! It was the first school I looked at 13 months ago but it was the perfect one for me. Can’t wait to see some of you next year!</p>

<p>Decision: Accepted</p>

<p>Objective:
[<em>] SAT I (breakdown): N/A
[</em>] ACT: 34 (34 English, 35 Math, 35 Reading, 33 Science, 10 Essay)
[<em>] SAT II: 750 Math I, 740 Math II, 730 Bio M
[</em>] Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 4.0 (school gives unweighted average out of 100 – mine’s a 95.14)
[<em>] Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): 26/417
[</em>] AP (place score in parenthesis): My school doesn’t offer AP classes; I self-studied for Bio and got a 3 (not submitted)
[<em>] IB (place score in parenthesis): N/A
[</em>] Senior Year Course Load: School doesn’t offer honors classes, here’s my schedule:</p>

<p>English IV
Calculus (accelerated)
Spanish V (accelerated)
Physics
Christian Existence
American History II</p>

<p>[li] Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): Not really applicable</p>[/li]
<p>[ul]Subjective:
[<em>] Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): Computer Tech Club (project manager), literary magazine (co-editor-in-chief), String Orchestra for four years, Social Studies Club, Science Club, National Honor Society
[</em>] Job/Work Experience: Camp Counselor for one summer, administrative assistant at a pre-school for another summer
[<em>] Volunteer/Community service: Teach Catholic education at my local parish (funny part is that I’m not Catholic but that’s a different story haha)
[</em>] Summer Activities: The aforementioned activities, plus I had an internship at a local hospital (top 10 in the US for cardiology) in their biomedical engineering department; I also had a lot of experience in their administrative offices and I helped out the hospitals CAO and a lot of her secretaries with filing, organizing folders, creating spreadsheets and optimizing their organization in general, etc.
[<em>] Essays: Common App was around an 8.5 or 9/10, my Tufts supplements ranged from an 8.5 to a 9.5/10 in my opinion. I worked really hard on them and I think they really showed my personality – I chose semi-risky topics for my essays, but I think that they were interesting/funny enough to make my application memorable.
[</em>] Teacher Recommendation: My Intro to Calculus teacher gave a decent recommendation I think (never saw the recommendation), and my English teacher/Spanish teacher (he taught me in both subjects last year) probably gave me a good recommendation. My school is not known for the teachers giving out good recommendations
[<em>] Counselor Rec: Not to get too much into how my school writes the counselor recommendation, but let’s just suffice to say that it’s probably bad. Not that my guidance counselor didn’t like me, but because there’s basically a system where a random senior teacher (who you’ve almost definitely never met) is chosen to write your letter. Long story short, it’s probably not particularly great.
[</em>] Additional Rec: See above.
[<em>] Interview: N/A
[</em>] Supplementary Material: See essays</p>

<p>
Other
[<em>] State (if domestic applicant): NY (Long Island specifically)
Country (if international applicant):
[</em>] School Type: Private Catholic school
[<em>] Ethnicity: Caucasian
[</em>] Gender: Male
[<em>] Income Bracket(mention if FA candidate): Hard to say since my parents are divorced and my father owns his own business. Probably around $70k if I had to guess.
[</em>] Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): I’m an atheist at a Catholic school, which is sort of interesting… (who am I kidding; I’m a boring, white engineering student from affluent Long Island)</p>

<p>[/ul]Reflection
[<em>] Strengths: Essays, ACT score
[</em>] Weaknesses: Demonstrated interest (I visited and went to a college fair, but didn’t do much other than that), the fact that I wasn’t prepared to send out my regular decision applications if I got rejected.
[<em>] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Strong essays, (relatively) strong standardized test scores
[</em>] Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Accepted at Fordham (minimum scholarship of $15k/year; quite probably worth much more than that though), Ohio State (minimum of $18k/year for a scholarship), and SUNY Binghamton. Deferred at Case Western though – probably because they figured that I had applied ED and wouldn’t be accepting their offer of admissions anyway, which they were right about in the end anyway.
[li] If rejected, where are you looking now?</p>[/li]
<p>
**General Comments: **</p>

<p>I’m ecstatic about Tufts. I really loved the school and I hope that I get to meet awesome people in my four years there. I’ve never been so excited about any decision in my life, and I hope that everyone else who got accepted ED is as excited as I am. I felt terrible for all of my friends who didn’t get into their first choice, and I’m so happy to say that I don’t have to worry about any of that stress. As long as the financial aid package isn’t terrible, I’ll be proud to call myself a baby Jumbo and can confidently say that I’m sure this will be one of the best experiences of my life. Good luck to all of you, hope to see many of you in Medford in a couple of months!</p>

<p>Decision: Accepted</p>

<p>Decision: Accepted</p>

<p>[ b]Objective:**
[ *] SAT I (breakdown): Didn’t submit
[ *] ACT: 33 (English: 35, Math: 30, Reading: 35, Science: 34, Writing: 8)
[ *] SAT II: Didn’t submit
[ *] Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 3.67
[ *] Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): top 10%
[ *] AP (place score in parenthesis): Chem (3), Lit (4)
[ *] IB (place score in parenthesis): N/A
[ *] Senior Year Course Load: French (honors), Physics (honors), AP Psych, AP Stats, AP Lang, AP CalcAB, Honor’s Choir,
[ *] Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, International Thespian Society, Certificate for the completion of the Congress of Future Medical Leaders conference. </p>

<p>[ /list][ b]Subjective:**
[ *] Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): Link Crew (Freshman orientation program for those who don’t know), Cantor at my synagogue, Choir secretary (no really, that’s a thing), Theater (Assistant director and music director as well as acting), Member of a four-girl a capella group, Music lessons, Dance, National Honor Society, Yale Science Program, Science National Honor Society, International Thespian Society.
[ *] Job/Work Experience: Cantoring at Bar/Bat Mitzvahs
[ *] Volunteer/Community service: National Honor Society, Activities at my synagogue, Volunteer counsellor at a performing arts summer camp
[ *] Summer Activities: Counsellor at performing arts summer camp, dance, and summer theatre productions.
[ *] Essays: By far the strongest part of my application. In my common app essay, I talked about a conference that I got to go to that changed my entire outlook on life. I also think that my supplements reflected my personality as well as they could have. I worked with a consultant to polish everything, and I combed through every sample essay and video on the Tufts website.
[ *] Teacher Recommendation: I asked my AP Chem teacher. I have no idea what he wrote, but when I asked him he said, “I would be pleased to write your recommendation,” so I’m assuming it was at least decent?
[ *] Counselor Rec: I’m guessing it was very strong. My guidance counsellor and I know each other very well and he told me that he would make sure it was a strong rec.
[ *] Additional Rec: My rabbi wrote a recommendation and I’m positive that it was very strong. He knows me very well and talked SPECIFICALLY about how involved I am and how much I’ve grown over the past few years.
[ *] Interview: They didn’t offer them for ED I
[ *] Supplementary Material: N/A</p>

<p>[ /list][ b]Other**
[ *] State (if domestic applicant): Connecticut
Country (if international applicant): Good ol’ USA
[ *] School Type: Public
[ *] Ethnicity: Caucasian
[ *] Gender: Female
[ *] Income Bracket(mention if FA candidate): N/A
[ *] Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): I’ve been to a lot of business and science conferences</p>

<p>[ /list][ b]Reflection**
[ *] Strengths: My essays were killer; many people told me so. I also think my activities and guidance counsellor rec were strong.
[ *] Weaknesses: GPA, and my writing and math scores on the ACT were a bit low.
[ *] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: As I’ve mentioned, my essays were killer. They reflected my personality really well, and I actually tailored my common app essay specifically for Tufts (I was really hoping I would get nt.) My “What Makes You Happy” essay in particular was really good. Let this show that, at Tufts, they tell you that the essays are really important, and it’s TRUE!
[ *] Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I was accepted to UVM, and didn’t apply anywhere else.
[ *] If rejected, where are you looking now? N/A</p>

<p>[ /list][ b]General Comments: I was so happy that I actually cried when I got accepted!! I can’t wait to go to Tufts!! I literally cannot picture myself anywhere else.</p>

<p>**General Comments: **
Best of luck to all of you applying for ED II or regular decision! Hope to see you on the hill in the fall! :)</p>

<p>OK, so I’m the mom of a recently admitted baby Jumbo! She has pragmatically steered clear of lurking at CC, to avoid driving herself mad, but I’ve been a bit compulsive about it, and offer huge congratulations to all the ED1 admittees! As a 20th century mom, I’m not great at copying and filling out the grid, above, so I’ll provide the stats in a narrative. My daughter comes from a very rigorous independent school in California, had a superscore of 33 on ACT, 5 on AP English, 4 on AP World, middling SAT subject test scores, about a 4.1 weighted GPA, took 4 AP classes, and the rest Honors, is currently Editor in Chief of the school newspaper, played volleyball from 7th-11th grade, helped start the campus radio station and deejays for it, tutors in math, has done a lot of community service at a shelter for women and children, and through our temple. I am surmising that her school recommendations were very favorable, and I believe she also submitted additional letters from the psych internship she did at USC over the summer, and a Tufts alum who has known her since she was 5, and offered to write a rec. She also has worked for two summers at her school’s summer camp. We visited the school this past fall, because we wanted to see if it was as good a fit as we thought it would be, and it was! She had seen at least a dozen others by this time, and while Brown, Hopkins, and Wesleyan all looked good, she really loved the atmosphere and student body at Tufts. </p>

<p>I think, while her numbers were in the range of what Tufts usually likes, given that there are so many fantastic candidates out there, and Tufts was considered a reach, I think what tipped the scales for her was who she is as a person: there’s self-confidence, balance and independence. Her application was completely her own; we still haven’t seen the supplemental essays she wrote for Tufts. Her school is extremely competitive and there is plenty of opportunity to become a high performing basket case there. The fact that she took challenging courses, did well, had a social life and involved herself in extracurricular activities because she wanted to, and not to check a box on a college application, was probably evident. She is a white female from a private school and our income is in the 100K range and we did apply for financial aid. She is not an URM, but has two moms, which she did not highlight or write about, as far as we know. </p>

<p>She applied EA to Tulane and was accepted, and has also submitted soon-to-be-pulled applications to Lewis & Clark, and several University of California branches. </p>

<p>Accepted. 31 ACT, 3.5 GPA. Hardest course load, private competitive school. Captain of varsity sport. Semi-recruited athlete (do they officially recruit?) Great essays. I assume good enough recommendations. Accepted to Tulane, but happy to be a Jumbo. </p>

<p>Decision: Accepted</p>

<p>[ b]Objective:**
[ *] SAT I (breakdown): didn’t send
[ *] ACT: 32
[ *] SAT II: Math 2 - 780, French - 680, Korean - 800
[ *] Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 3.87
[ *] Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): n/a
[ *] AP (place score in parenthesis): AP Calculus BC (5)
[ *] IB (place score in parenthesis):
[ *] Senior Year Course Load: AP French, AP Gov & Politics, International Business, British Literature, Physiology
[ *] Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.):</p>

<p>[ /list][ b]Subjective:**
[ *] Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): K-pop dance group (founder & captain), Korean Student Association (president (12), activities director (11)), Interact Club–biggest volunteering club at school–(president (12), public relations (11), French National Honors Society (member), Indopak dance team
[ *] Job/Work Experience: Interned at Belgian Trade Commission in SF during the summer
[ *] Volunteer/Community service: about 180+ hours of community service since 2nd semester sophomore year through Interact Club as well as coordinating those volunteering events
[ *] Summer Activities: Not much, other than BTC
[ *] Essays: (1) Why Tufts (8/10): I think it was pretty self-explanatory but not that strong; I emphasized my interest in French and IR, but more towards IR. I talked about their alpine campus in France and their culture houses! (2) Quaker (9/10): I emphasized my leadership potential; I wanted to let them know that I’ve grown from being a shy kid who moved from country to country to having leadership positions in various fields. (3) Mandela (10/10): I emphasized this k-pop dance group that I founded and how it’s grown from like 7 to 40 people. It directly relates to what I’m pursuing in college, which is doing IR and exposing others to different cultures and letting them come out of their shell. So far my best and favorite one.
[ *] Teacher Recommendation: French (I’ve had her for 3 years now so we’re very close, i’d give 10/10), Math (she really liked me since I asked a lot of questions, so 9/10)
[ *] Counselor Rec: I think she liked me!! And she knew the school very well. 10/10
[ *] Additional Rec: n/a
[ *] Interview: n/a
[ *] Supplementary Material: n/a</p>

<p>[ /list][ b]Other**
[ *] State (if domestic applicant): California
Country (if international applicant):
[ *] School Type: Public
[ *] Ethnicity: Korean
[ *] Gender: Female
[ *] Income Bracket(mention if FA candidate): n/a
[ *] Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): n/a</p>

<p>[ /list][ b]Reflection**
[ *] Strengths: Strong extracurriculars; really emphasized the dance group. I believe it really changed the school in many ways, and we were even in the school newspaper! And also it’s a very different leadership skill than other club leaderships because it’s more like teaching students how to be confident and dance in front of hundreds of people. My counselor and teacher recs must have been strong; my French teacher said she even asked other teachers to revise hers!
[ *] Weaknesses: Not too strong academic record
[ *] Why you think you were accepted: I actually moved to California about 3 years ago my sophomore year from Korea. I went to an international school when I was younger in a different country so my english wasn’t that bad, but still it was an obstacle from taking more rigorous classes. My english class back in my middle school in Korea was marked as an ELD class and I think that caught the admissions officers’ eyes first. So I mean it was kind of an “excuse” for not taking many rigorous classes I guess? That’s why I focused more on extra curricular.
[ *] Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I don’t know yet
[ *] If rejected, where are you looking now?</p>

<p>[ /list][ b]General Comments: can’t wait to be a jumbo <3</p>

<p>[ size=+2][ color=red][ b]Decision: Deferred**</p>

<p>[ b]Objective:**
[ *] SAT I (breakdown): didn’t send
[ *] ACT: 34 (35 Writing, 35 Science, 34 Reading, 30 Math, 10 Writing)
[ *] SAT II: 760 US History, 740 Bio M
[ *] Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 3.6 (ish) and weighted 4.1-4.2
[ *] Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): 20% (I go to a really large, competitive public school)
[ *] AP (place score in parenthesis): AP Calc AB (4), AP Lang (5), AP Calc BC (5)/AB Subscore (5), Bio (4), APUSH (5)
[ *] IB (place score in parenthesis):
[ *] Senior Year Course Load: AP Statistics, AP Lit, AP Spanish, AP Euro, AP Psych, AP Econ (macro and micro), Honors Anatomy and Physiology
[ *] Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): AP Scholar</p>

<p>[ /list][ b]Subjective:**
[ *] Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): Model UN (co-president), Speech and Debate Team (Public Forum - 4 years), Middle School Debate (teach at our district’s 3 middle schools), Private Voice for 6 years, Apprenticeship at the Pittsburgh Opera, Apprenticeship at the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Bach Choir of Pittsburgh (auditioned community choir), Spanish Club, Mock Trial, Quiz Bowl Team (one of the 3 chosen from my school to be on local tv quiz show), World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh Apprenticeship, International Youth Forum (mediator for my school at video conferences), NJHS/NHS, Interact Club
[ *] Job/Work Experience: Interned at the Pittsburgh Opera - summer 2014, created education materials for teacher workshops on this season’s operas
[ *] Volunteer/Community service: VITAS Hospice Care - musical volunteer, Volunteer with Pittsburgh Opera - 50 hours
[ *] Summer Activities: Intro to Law camp at Georgetown - 2013, Pre-College Music at Carnegie Mellon - 2014 (part-time so I could also intern at Opera. I took private lessons, coachings, opera workshop, jazz choir, solfege, and concert choir), and I taught myself how to play guitar, ukulele, and piano (2012-2013) and learned italian (2014)
[ *] Essays: I thought these were good but who knows anymore? For Common App, I wrote about writing Harry Potter music and how songwriting helps me to explore my own mind and combine all my interests. The why tufts was super hard for me because I had to cut so much of why I love Tufts out because of the word limit. The let your life speak one, I wrote about my extended family, specifically this one uncle, and how they are incredibly nuanced and their widespread passions have allowed me to love both opera and biology but want to study International Relations with a minor in Italian. I wrote the what makes you happy prompt about listening to opera music and I talked about the first time I heard opera on Arthur as a child and how that evolved into my passion today not only to sing but also to listen to everything I can. (I promise, my essays were more nuanced than how they sound)
[ *] Teacher Recommendation: I had one from my AP Lang teacher and one from my AP Bio teacher. I think they were good but nothing exceptionally spectacular. My AP lang teacher thought I was an amazing writer but I’m just not the type to talk excessively in class so that could have been a drawback. My Bio teacher knew me as a person pretty well because I was in his homeroom and we would talk about video games together but I’m not sure how much he knows me as a student.
[ *] Counselor Rec: I go to a huge school with only 5 counselors but my counselor is the best and she took 5 minutes to sit down with me and tell her about myself which is more than most people at my school get. This probably didn’t help or hurt just because of the logistics of it all.
[ *] Additional Rec: n/a
[ *] Interview: n/a
[ *] Supplementary Material: sent a studio recording of three arias (a french, an italian, and an english)</p>

Country (if international applicant):

[ *] Income Bracket(mention if FA candidate): 200,000+
[ *] Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): none</p>

<p>[ /list][ b]Reflection**
[ *] Strengths: EC’s, AP Scores/courseload, ACT composite, essays
[ *] Weaknesses: Definitely my GPA, ACT math was pretty low, rec letters
[ *] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: most definitely GPA, also PA is a pretty competitive state for Tufts. I think I was deferred rather than rejected because of my strong scores and EC’s.
[ *] Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: accepted at Bard (I really like it (nothing compared to Tufts though) but it’s in the middle of nowhere which is a drawback)
[ *] If rejected, where are you looking now? Hopefully, still Tufts (does anyone know the stats on how many who get deferred get in?) but if I don’t definitely Bard, Emory, Bryn Mawr, Georgetown. possibly Barnard, Oberlin, and Williams?</p>

<p>[ /list][ b]General Comments: ** I was crushed at first (and I still am) but I’m still hopeful that I’ll get in RD. (what are my chances, anyone?)</p>

[ *] Job/Work Experience: 3 years working as a head grader at Kumon, one year of working at American Eagle (still working at both places)
[ *] Volunteer/Community service: over 100 hours with Immigrant-help organization and at the local hospital
[ *] Summer Activities: Research with a leading professor at nearby university
[ *] Essays: Common App: (10/10) spent the most time on it, described my five year struggle with depression and suicide and what I had to change in my life to find a solution. Why Tufts?: (10/10) I described my morning walk to Fletcher to watch a guest lecturer and connected to how I felt completely at home at Tufts. Quaker: (9/10) described the hardships my family has suffered through financially and how we’ve managed without luxuries. What makes you Happy: (9/10) I wrote about a seemingly unimportant part of my life that I found to be significant, my pen flipping during debate rounds.
[ *] Teacher Recommendation: AP Euro/Honors Philosophy Teacher: (9/10) He likes me and knows how I think and analyze information and subject matter, as well as my many passions and interests. Global History Teacher: (10/10) We have a really close relationship, since I’ve known him since my freshmen year and act as a two-day guest lecturer in his (and other) classes one a semester. Knows my passion for foreign relations and the lens through which I see the world in.
[ *] Counselor Rec: Probably average, I attend a large public school and didn’t have much of an opportunity to meet and discuss with my counselor.
[ *] Additional Rec: From the professor I did an internship with over the summer, I believe it was very good. He understood my interests and my abilities in both academics and extracurriculars.

[ *] Income Bracket(mention if FA candidate):$40,000
[ *] Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): I speak three languages fluently (Farsi, French, and English)</p>

<p>[ /list][ b]Reflection**
[ *] Strengths: Lot of work experience, faced and overcame lots of adversity in my personal life and reflected on it, speak three languages, great rec letters, but most importantly my essays, I believe Tufts heavily weighs your essays and I believe I really let my voice be heard most powerfully via my essays.
[ *] Weaknesses: GPA (fairly low for such a selective university), low-ish test scores
[ *] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I definitely believe that I was accepted because of my unique voice and essays. I was able to demonstrate that although not a 5.0 (or 4.0 depending on your school) student with spectacular test scores, I have lots of other redeeming factors. I was brutally honest in my essays and luckily it worked. I put my heart into my essays, fortunately Tufts’ admissions liked it.
[ *] Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Accepted to the Ohio State University (EA)
[ *] If rejected, where are you looking now? n/a</p>

<p>[ /list][ b]General Comments: **</p>

<p>@negativelyinf - I’d say that your chances are above average at Tufts, but it’s still a pretty competitive school. I don’t know off-hand how many deferrals they end up accepting in the end, but your chances have to be at least above average given your ACT score.</p>

<p>I know that it may seem awful to get deferred to your first choice school, but it may be the best thing that could happen. You still have a pretty solid chance of getting in (and you can’t show much more demonstrated interest than applying ED to a school) and now you have the chance to compare multiple financial aid packages and see just where you end up. Don’t give up hope, good things are still very likely :)</p>

<p>@micmatt513‌ thanks for the vote of confidence/reassurance. I’m hoping this will make me work hard for the rest of the semester to pull up my grades/gpa. A .1 increase could make all the difference. I’ve taken the ACT twice and none of my scores changed but I’m thinking about retaking it to get my math score up but is 3 times too much? </p>

<p>Maybe an extra rec letter from the education coordinator at the opera or my goal teacher might help. I just don’t know what is too much and what is not enough…</p>

<p>@negativelyinf - I don’t think an extra rec letter would matter. Prepare for the Math I or Math II (or both) SAT IIs and try to do well on them. I think that would help way more than retaking the ACT, when you’re clearly a good candidate and your score is already well above average. Maybe try to go out there and visit again, and definitely do an interview. Good luck!</p>

<p>I have been involved in musical theatre and vocal ensembles since elementary school, and when I began studying classical voice I fell in love with opera! So excited to hear there will be other opera lovers next year! </p>

<p>ahhh im so excited to meet all of those who were accepted next year! i also wanted to say for future applicants that your essays can really make or break your admission i feel like! make sure you give specifics of why you want to go to tufts. take a chance on your let your life speak! i wrote about how me and my mom always talk about bodily functions and how it made me a really open and inclusive person. and then for the other one i just wrote about why dogs make me happy but i took my own twist on it! don’t be afraid to take a risk or write about something as simple as dogs especially if you add your own twist</p>

<p>Sorry to intrude here, but can anyone please give me the link to accept and pay my son’s deposit?</p>

<p>@tigerdad‌ I think the link is personal to your son, but you can find it on his Application Status page (<a href=“Login”>https://ugrad.admissions.tufts.edu/apply&lt;/a&gt;). It’s at the bottom under “Forms” and is called “Decision Reply Form”</p>
