oh yeah, has anyone been accepted to the honors college? I dont think I was because it didnt say anything in the acceptance letter about it… but thats ok because I got the scholarship I needed!

yeah i was accepted into the honors college

I know I am nitpicking, but it is an Honors Program, not an Honors College. An Honors College is a separate entity within the university, an Honors Program is integrated across the existing Schools or Colleges within the university. An example of an actual Honors College would be Barrett Honors College at Arizona State.

IDK if Tulane is a good enough school for me though. Maybe I should visit!

LOL @ “IDK if Tulane is a good enough school for me though. Maybe I should visit!” I hope you didn’t mean that the way it sounds. And yes, you should visit.

I will point out that Tulane has some really outstanding students. For example, this year Tulane has 2 winners of the Presidential Scholars Award from the Department of Education (not to be confused with Tulane’s Presidential Merit Scholarship). There are only two academic winners of this award from each state! So you can see winning is very prestigious. Tulane has one of the Louisiana winners and one of the Pennsylvania winners this year. In addition, they have a few of the finalists as well, of which there are only 500 nationally. So I think you would agree there are more than a few really bright people at Tulane. Are a few other schools even more selective? Sure, and if that is what you are looking for then you should go for that. However, there are some really great things about being at Tulane that I can say with confidence no other school can match. That is why fit is so important. It just depends what you are looking for. Check it out.

[] Weaknesses: SAT

Diomedes - weakness SAT??? At 2240??? LOL. You have very high standards.

Yeah, I suppose it’s really not a weakness, but I always walked away from that test thinking that I could’ve done better. The SAT is just a tease; it seems so easy until you get your scores back.

Oh, and I suppose I’ll mention I did get the Presidential, with an invitation to the Honors program. I can’t wait until the fall!

Diomedes

As an instate applicant I hope you are applying to the John Hainkel Louisiana Scholars Award (tuition, fees room board and an $800 stipend). You have to fill out a separate application for it, and you have to have applied for the DHS by the 15th.

Oooh good catch jjcddg!! Yes, absolutely apply for that, Diomedes! That really is a free ride, not “just” free tuition. My D’s roommate freshman year had that. There are only 2 in Louisiana, I believe. Very sweet deal.
