did tulane give like everyone a scholarship? sure seems that way

Just seems that way because CC is self selective for higher achieving students. The higher the selectivity of the school, the more traffic it gets on here, in general. For example, Arizona State University is a huge school, but it certainly isn’t in the same league as the Ivies, UCLA, Wake Forest, etc. I just glanced at their thread board and they had one person post yesterday and none today so far. Some activity the day before that, but nothing like what Tulane, Wash U, Duke and others like that get.

is Tulane even on the radar with Duke, Wash U, and schools like that? I’ve never known it to be categorized with those schools.

Guess it depends on how big your radar is, lol. Duke and Wash U are more selective, no question. Do students that get into Wash U and Duke (and Vandy and Chicago and some similar schools) sometimes choose Tulane over these schools? Sure, although I am also sure not most of the time. Do I personally feel you can come out of Tulane with an education equal to those schools? Of course, and in some things it will be better and others not so.

It also is contingent on what you mean by “categorized”. In many aspects the schools have similarities. They are about the same size, they have law schools and med schools, and draw a similar type of student. Vandy, Emory and others also fall into this category. I guess it just depends on how into the ranking game you are.

But assuming you asked based on my comment above, that was strictly in relation to the amount of traffic Tulane gets on CC. It is comparable to those other schools from what I can see. I certainly haven’t bothered to really count.

Congrats dudeitsksteen. Are you leaning towards Tulane, Bama, or somewhere else?

thank you actually i’m really hoping i get into rice regular decision. i would’ve applied early but i couldn’t make the financial commitment…i also applied to unc chapel hill, rhodes, vandy, mcgill, elon, and miami so we’ll see how it plays out.

dudeitsksteen- I got a $16,500k/year scholarship to Rice (the highest merit scholarship for non-engineering students) and almost went there. We had 13 kids from my HS who got into Rice and I know several current students there. While it is an awesome school, I think that it is better to be a top student at Tulane than an average student at Rice. By being a top student at any school, you have access to many more opportunities and programs. I can also almost guarantee you that your GPA will be higher at Tulane, as you will be competing against a lower (although still very intelligent) quality student body. Just my opinion. PM me if you have an questions.
