[/ul]Reflection[list]

[] What you tried to focus on in your application - any hooks you tried to make for yourself: I wrote about my dad’s disability and how it has changed my outlook on things.
[] Weaknesses: Spelling errors, GPA
[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Expressed a lot of interest. Said a lot of prayers!
[] Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Applied to a ton of other places, Tulane was the first to notify me. Couldn’t be more excited!

Cougar23 - posted it in another thread, but wanted to make sure you saw it. your stats look very similar to my daughter’s so, “good luck”.

My daughter just got her offer letter. We live in California. She got the Presidential. It seems they raised them all $2000. She was offered $27,000 a year!!!

fallenchemist - thank you so much. she is so excited (as is our wallet). it now makes it a complete reality for her. she is still putting in her UC applications, but is 100 percent committed to Tulane.

Since the merit scholarships are going up $2000 for incoming freshmen, will students who currently have them also receive the bump? Or will they have the same amount?

Johngesa - Unfortunately I only recieved the $17,000 Academic Achievement scholarship. This still puts Tulane well out of reach financially. If I’d received $27,000 like your daughter (congratulations by the way!), I would have put my deposit down today.

Fallenchemist - Now that I know my merit aid package, attending Tulane would put me in some serious debt. I’ve been looking online for job placement rates, etc. and haven’t found anything terribly meaningful. Do you have anything to say about the value of a Tulane degree? I’m thinking about doing the 4+1 Masters program in either Finance or Business Administration. Basically, is TU worth the price?

cougar23 - My general philosophy is that no school is worth going into significant debt for, not even an Ivy League school. What is significant? In my opinion, it would be no more than $25,000 total for all 4 years. Some people have even less tolerance for debt, and I get that. But to go much higher would just be foolish I think. There are some wonderful things about going to Tulane (or Harvard or Duke or Wake Forest…) compared to Big State U, but not at any cost.
