Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): nothing, really…
[ *] Strengths: Mission trips, essay was good, IB scores/AP scores in classes i never took
[ *] What you tried to focus on in your application - any hooks you tried to make for yourself: my career goal is service based, and i have already started working on them through DOOR Hollywood
[ *] Weaknesses: SAT SCORES, and i didn’t do much at my school
[ *] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: i honestly have no idea… maybe SAT scores?
[ *] Just got my acceptance to DePaul

It sucks, but I won’t let it bring me down… still got some more schools to hear back from

thanks Fallenchemist. That makes sense. While my daughter was enthusiastic, it isn’t her top choice, so I guess that probably showed.
thank you so much for your time!

Seniormom… same here… my S was also deferred… 2200 SAT’s 3.6 from a top rigorous private prep… hard classes, Eagle Scout, tons of leadership with a National leadership position in scouting, Vigil honor… highest honor is scouting, 1500 community service hrs, mostly working at National Parks all over the US, works, commutes 3 hrs a day to school, Search and Rescue, volunteer fireman, beach lifeguard, and went to a prestigious boarding school for a semester on a rural organic farm last year. Wasn’t his first choice, but I thought he would be up for a pretty good scholarship???

I won’t repeat what I said on the other thread, but I will add that these admissions people do this for a living and they do get pretty good at picking out the ones that really are serious about Tulane from those that are not. Will they be perfect? No, of course not, but it isn’t like they rejected you either. If they made a mistake and deferred a high stat student that really wanted Tulane, or even someone that would go there based on a very nice scholarship, then it is up to that student to let them know they really are considering Tulane as more than a safety.

Hi I was the first student to apply to Tulane EA from my school and have yet to hear back. The other 4 kids have been accepted. I have a 3.5GPA (my school does not weight) and 29 composite ACT Scores. I am a three sport varsity athlete and I participate in volunteer firefighting and EMT work. Does anyone have any idea why I would not have received a decision yet?

I think there is nothing that can be added that hasn’t been discussed many times already. Call your admissions counselor and make sure there isn’t a mistake or glitch in the system regarding your app.
