Official ubc class of 2014 thread :)

Including housing/food it’s about 30,000 a year. 20,000 for tuition alone.

i honestly don’t know much about any other canadian school besides UBC! my ex’s sister went there and loved it, so i heard all about it from her and a few other people i know.

u of toronto on the other hand? i don’t really know! the only province i’ve ever been to is b.c., but i’ve been there like 10 times because it’s so close.

and yeah, ubc definitely isn’t cheap, but when you consider what a good school it is, that’s where the value comes in. USC, for instance, is far more expensive, (58,000 all together i think) isn’t in a very safe part of town (south central l.a.? no thank you…), and isn’t as highly ranked as ubc.

i think for the education you’d receive, ubc is a pretty good deal.

only 30k? my instate flagship UT costs about 25k a year lol

hey yellowapple-
i applied in the begining of december, i think. and sent all of stuff at the beginning of january. i got my acceptance on feb. 9th, so it really didnt take as long as i thought it would

The quickness of recieving acceptance to a certain faculty may be specific to what faculty you applied to as well. Or at least I hope it is, because I haven’t heard yet and I’m starting to worry. On my application status it says that they still need my midyear grades, even though my college counselor sent them in on Feb. 3rd. Ahhhhh!

Yeah, it still says they need my grades which were sent in a while back. I think the olympics majorly slowed things down…

Great. Well, all we can do now is wait I guess! Hopefully this status nonsense will change sometime this month. Lots of schools notify their applicants during march, hopefully ubc is one of them!

Okay, so I just did a little bit of internet re-con and it seems like last year, some US applicants that applied as late as February 26 heard back just under a month later. UBC reportedly tells people that they will receive a decision one to three weeks after their application is complete, and that seems to have held true last year.

Cross your fingers and hope it’s the same for us!!!

hey guys,

just got news on my decision on the 5th of March! Got accepted into Sauder School of Business!

I submitted my application on Dec 22nd… so for me it took more than 2 - 3 weeks… I guess cuz Sauder has a separate evaluation system than the Arts, where most people apply.

ahhhh congrats!!! did you find out online or did you get your official letter?

that’s so cool! sauder is so hard to get into, nice! :D

is UBC your first choice?

Thank you

I haven’t received my official letter yet, my status just changed on on Friday, I had an alert, and then it said congratulations, you have been admitted to UBC! And then in my application status it just says:

You were offered admission on March 5, 2010. A letter advising you of this decision, which includes registration information, has been mailed to you. So that we may confirm our offer of admission, you must submit your final official transcript when available.

UBC is also pleased to offer you the President’s Entrance Scholarship valued at $500. To ensure that you receive the scholarship, please review the requirements outlined at https://you.ubc.ca/ubc/vancouver/intlpes.ezc.

I only applied with one choice, which was Sauder. I am not sure yet if I will go, I have got into U Michigan as well… But definitely considering Sauder, I love UBC! :D

oh cool! that’s so awesome dude, you got in, and with just one choice too!! may i ask what your stats are? i assume they’re pretty high if you got into sauder! haha anyway, have you visited ubc yet?

varun, are u an international student (india?)
when did submit your application?
could you post ur stats?

And Congratulations!

I really want to go to ubc for the chill people and BC BUD!!!

yeah i’ll tell you roughly what my stats are:

I do IB so its on my predicted grades, and we don’t know what our predicated grades are… but our teachers give an indication, so mine is roughly; 40/41 out 45

Stats:

Yeah those are the main things…

I haven’t visited UBC, but I’ve seen loads of pictures, and a lot of my friends who are studying there tell me a lot about it. My twin sister has also been accepted at UBC so its great :D

@thisismyhandle I am an international student (Indian), but I study in Singapore… I submitted my supplemental and normal application on DEC 22nd… but my school only sent the transcripts on FEB 3… yeah, and I heard on 5th of March.

thank you! :)

@varun…
I do IB too… but my predicted is nowhere close to yours… im somewhere around 34-35.

My docs got delivered to ubc only on march 4rth… when do you think I should expect a decision, before may 1st?

@thisismyhandle, if they got received on the 4th of March, then you’ll probably hear early April… if not end of March. UBC is really good in that they take only 3-4 weeks to send you a decision if you are accepted. I think it should definitely be before May 1st.

I hope you get in! Good luck!

Congratulations, vvvarun! I also got accepted to the Sauder School of Business and I’m from Singapore, too. (Currently living in Shanghai, lived in the US before). I hope to meet you this fall…? :)

all i see is white, sugar coated bc bud flowing through my head.

thank you and congratulations to you too andr3atron!! Yeah, we might meet this year :)
