oh ok…great choices! but don’t go to utm mississauga campus!! i went there for a little bit and hated it…the school is basically a commuter school, so the social life is really poor…plus so many other reasons i can go on about! ur a US student? nice…how come your really keen on canadian colleges? yea american universites are really pricey…

YEAHHHHHHH I GOT IT:)!! omgoshh yessss

and @beachbabe Im a US student, but Im Canadian, lived around toronto area for most of my life, and then moved to California, where I am right now. BC is like a 2.5hr flight from california. And thing is I actually graduated hs early 2009, then got into UCLA, and I went there, BUT i couldnt continue cause they told me id be paying intl fees, AFTER i accepted the offer and they raised tuition 32% at the end of the quarter, in short i think all the california schools are going downward, and im canadian…more opportunities in canada for me & im aware about missisauga, stgeorge is way better, location, city life, i put it as a backup in case i got in nowhere. soo yeah, now i can breathe, my top choice is a yes, so im just gonna relax lol, i only have western and toronto left woott!

scrap western and toronto, i just got into western too, yayyy, ubc still my top choice, but todayy is officially my day.

Omg congratulations! that’s such good news! you should celebrate!! im so excited for this fall!

yellowapple- CONGRATULATIONS!!! I’M SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!! I know you’ve been waiting so long and I know you want to go to UBC just as bad as I do! Hooray!!! Sooooo stoked for you right now! :D!!!

Thanks! Yeah it was a HUGE relief getting in, So happy now I can just research more about the school and not the process of getting in. I called my dad right away and told him, See you guys in the fall :)

First off, congrats to everyone that got accepted! Especially to Holden!

I’m a junior and as the I’m finishing the year, I’ve got a pretty good idea of where I want to go: UBC. It is a bit difficult to find info on it for the admissions standards. I’ve taken the SAT once (scoring a 1890/1250) and will take it again May. My GPA is a 93%; we don’t do the point system. If any of you could shine some like on what they are looking for, that would be awesome!

I hope to study Psychology & French in college. But when not studying, I enjoy surfing, sailing, and snowboard. Can anyone tell me what the surfing is like around UBC? I’ve got a pretty good idea about the snowboarding and sailing already.

Thanks and good luck!

Your stats are really good, youve got me on the SAT thats for sure. Are you a canadian student? cause that would explain the percentage.

first thing id do is go on ubc’s website and look at the prereqs for each program and focus to make sure you complete the ones for the program you want…this is something I overlooked.

canadian colleges are not as hollistic in that grades>everything else pretty much. so your stats look really good and if you have to do a supplemental for your program and you do it well, id say your already in.

see you all in the fall, and hopefully see you surf next fall too. feel free to add me on facebook byee:)

binta

Hi. International student from India accepted for Bachelors in Applied Sci. Dept.

I got into UBC chemical engineering.im happppppyyy
but i got like 10 rejections yesterday from all top unis.yale harvard princeton…well who cares(i do)
…anyone out there for chemical engineering???

actually i’m an american from the new jersey. my school believes that presents a more actuate picture of the a students abilities. is campus housing guaranteed for international/first year students?

oh cool im a us applicant as well from california, most of the people here are… yeah i already applied for housing when i applied for admissions, if you plan on going now, id apply…you can actually chose by rank where you want to live, and theres a little roomate questionaire. and they make sure all first year students get into totem or place vanier, rarely elsewhere, i heard it gets really hard your 3rd and 4th year though…so yup.:)

anyone thinking about doing jumpstart orientation?

Thanks surfsailsnow! Hey so, I don’t know much of anything about surfing, but I know a guy who’s a sponsored windsurfer, and I know he was considering applying to UBC because of the awesome surfing. Hope that helps??? Also housing IS guarenteed to international kids in the first year pretty sure. Your stats are good dude, I got in with a 3.2 UW American gpa and a 1930 SAT. I got that $500 presidential entrance scholarship too! Also, to reiterate what yellowapple said, DO THE SUPPLEMENTAL! I went to an info sesh and the guy said that the brilliance of your supplement could be the deciding factor if you’re below the admission average.

Congrats to all you aceptees!

And about jumpstart…if it wasn’t expensiveish, I’d totally do it! Mostly just to get away quicker but regardless of that, when I went on a tour back in October, my guide was American and did jumpstart. She said it was awesome; totally beneficial. Apparently it also helped her get a good feel of campus so she was like, confident and whatnot as far as getting around went by the first day of classes.

…Has anyone done degree in a day btw? I’m going on the 9th…

Congratulations to all accepted… Well Im a little confused on which to choose between U of T[St George] and UBC for Engineering. Can someone plz throw light on it even info in general about these two unis will b of great help…
Was wondering does UBC give the $500 scholarship to everyone??? [I got that too]

Reading this has been really helpful. I was accepted into UBC Faculty of Science.
I was just wondering about the housing. Is it better to be in a double or a single and why?
And also what first year residence is the best and closest to all the Science buildings?
If anyone can help I would really appreciated it :)

Okay, well, I don’t know anything about u of t st.george kmtayal, but I know a lot about ubc and even a little about engineering there! UBC is one of the top 40 universities in the world, and they have a biiiig commitment to sustainability. A major reason why UBC is such an eco-friendly place is because of its engineering students! They help develop a lot of the environmentally sound systems and things on campus. I don’t know what kind of engineer you want to be, but there’s that! Also, UBC engineering students are given the opportunity to work on projects that can be highly beneficial to people who aren’t working or studying at UBC. If you remember the olympic opening ceremony, there was a snowboarder who came into the stadium off a jump, and he landed on this big fluffy white pillow looking thing. Well, that pillow thing was actually a shock absorbing landing cushion for athletes to practice their more dangerous stunts before they’ve mastered them so they don’t get hurt. A UBC student engineering student thought up the concept, and a team of them actually built it! So, sorry I don’t know anything about u of t, but what I do know about engineering at UBC is that there’s a lot of opportunity available to make some real change and do some real good before you’ve even graduated. And there’s more information about UBC in general scattered throughout this thread. :)

Oh! Also, I don’t know if everyone gets the $500. Maybe! Haha.

And madcow, I don’t know which rez is closer to science, but apparently at UBC because so many dorms are singles, you’ll most likely be on a floor where everyone has singles, and because of that you naturally befriend lots of people on your floor rather than just your roommate. So apparently, because that’s the way things work there, having a single isn’t a death sentence, you’ll make friends either way, so the choice is up to you!

UBC HERE I COME !!

So who is for sure coming next year ?!

Congrats raregirl!

I am. :)
