Official UC Berkeley 2015 Transfer Thread

I’ve been trying to determine Cal’s anthropology transfer rate. I know the social sciences are 20-something percent, but weighted by psychology (which I’m sure is impacted), the whole thing seems to be thrown off at least a little. Does anyone happen to know?

I got in to UCLA yesterday with a lower GPA and it makes me wonder if Cal might not be such a long shot…

Can’t wait for next friday !!! Cal all the way !

@InfiniteSome
Do you mind chancing my profile above just for fun? Also, would you mind posting your stats just so I can see what some of the other Haas-hopefuls are like?

Somebody chance me please

Major: Business Administration+Computer Science+Electrical Engineering

GPA: 5.0
Prereqs: Completed in first quarter for all three majors

ECs: I’m a little nervous about this. Discovered cure for cancer, killed Hitler, stopped North Korea nuke, on Obama’s speed dial, CEO of Apple, waiter at McDonald’s.

Special notes: I lost four of my limbs while on Seal Team Six. It was tough writing all of my assignments with a pencil in my mouth, but I managed.

Do you guys think I have a chance?

@spenceyboi Reach. Being CEO of Apple will hurt you since Berkeley is anti-corporation.

@spenceyboi Did you have TAP?
Did you adequately describe how losing your limbs correlates with your major?

@Claferla - with your stats and EC’s, you are guaranteed admission to Haas.

Thanks, Spenceyboi. I will hold you to it.

@spenceyboi I think your lack of confidence is what is going to get you rejected. Sorry but I just dont think you are a good fit for any of those programs :confused:
lol

@spenceyboi marry me

funny how this thread has the least amount of posts. lets blow this shit up this week!!! good luck to all of you, may you all get accepted :slight_smile:

Did anyone apply to the Rhetoric major ? I got into Political Science at both Davis and UCLA, I like my chances for Rhetoric at UCB but have a ton of concerns about going up North( single parent, family is all in Socal.) Just having the options is extremely exciting! Good luck to all.

I’m looking at applying next year, but I didn’t want to start a new thread for this question.

Will it hurt me if I don’t take one of my major prereq classes until next spring? I don’t want to take a class I’m not all that interested in, but if I have to so I can avoid being affected by it, I can. I’m a history major, so it’s not anything that’s impacted haha.

@yayyay, no, I’m in this major (I’m doubling) and it’s pretty easy to get in (I had 3.8 when I applied). The rate is low just because not many people are applying to it (I’m not in the dietetics track, but it doesn’t matter you can change later on to whatever you like during CalSO).

@bellsie No, it doesn’t matter as long as you complete all your pre-req the spring semester before your transfer. I was taking 3 pre-req classes my last semester.

@Moshe1010 and @yayyya – I spoke to a CNR’s Peer Advisor today at CAL DAY. He mentioned that there were ONLY 3 transfer students in his Dietetics class for the Nutritional Science major. Do you guys know how many students CNR were accepted in the Nutritional Science major last year?

I have been lurking on this forum for way too long, and have decided it is finally time to join the madness! Yesterday was an emotional roller coaster but so far I am 3/3. I have a feeling Berkeley is going to change that. I actually wouldn’t mind because I’m leaning towards UCLA. Good luck to everyone!

Major: Spanish
GPA: 4.0
EC’s: Studied/volunteered abroad last summer, President of Spanish Club, Spanish tutor, part-time job.
IGETC: Done by Spring 2015
Prereqs: Done by Spring 2015
Personal Statement: 1) I wrote about my time studying abroad and how it sparked a passion inside of me to change my major to Spanish (it’s my second language). I also talked about how I created a Spanish club and began working as a Spanish tutor when I got back from Central America. 2) I talked about how I dropped out of high school and got my GED. I began working full time and had two jobs at one point. I eventually decided to go back to school, but it was hard to get back in the swing of things. My biggest accomplishment is overcoming those adversities to arrive at the place I am today.
Applied: UCLA (TAP), UCSD, UCD, UCB
Accepted: UCLA (Spanish), UCSD (International Relations- Linguistics), UCD (Spanish)
Waiting: UCB

good luck to everyone !

To be honest I applied to Berkely for fun cause I know I don’t stand a chance

Has someone apply for political economy? I have 3.82 gpa, is it possible to get in?look like everyone has 4.0 to get in berkeley.

Is the college of arts and sciences suppose to be easier to get into?? A classmate was pretty confident that he got in because he applied at the college (even though he is a science major…I think it was chem?)
Does anyone have statistics on that? It’s probably not as specific as LA though
Things aren’t looking great for me. I have an average GPA (3.7) for an impacted major (biology) and one awful personal statement and one mediocre one.

Still hoping against hope tho

@Moshe1010 Thank you so much! Your information is really helpful. My track is metabolism and physiology which I guss is same as yours.

@LenoRang Sorry I have no idea. I have a friend who applied last year majoring nutritional science was rejected by Berkeley. However, her GPA is relatively low. Are you applying for this major as well?
