Official UC Berkeley 2015 Transfer Thread

I’m also applying for Haas.

On Friday, April 24, the gatekeepers of the heavily fortified Haas fortress will let us know if we’re, at last, allowed to get in.

@InfiniteSome only to be shot with arrows

@Outerhaven LOL! I will, for sure and for the sake of survival, put on my full armor on my way to the great gate of Haas on that Friday!

I will apply next year. But good luck everybody!!! maybe share some experience lol

@InfiniteSome Nice! So there’s at least 2 of us still here.

@Ylfsef Pierce buddies! (I’m actually transferring from Valley College, but my classes have been split about 50/50. I’ve also taken a few classes at SMC.) Good luck to all!

i believe for econ you will need to maintain a 3.0 gpa your first semester or else you’ll have to declare with your backup major

Sooo did anyone else get an email a few months asking to send their unofficial transcript? Not sure if that’s good… or bad, or really just means nothing? idk but I’m getting really nervous for decisions to come out!

Hey… hopeful transfer from private university here… wondering if poli sci is impacted at UCB

Political science isn’t impacted

I’m a little confused about Berkeley’s admission process. They don’t admit by major, right? They admit by college? How does the review process work then? Do they hold you to a standard of your applied major or your applied college?

it’s my major. However when you get accepted, you declare your major after 1st semester or something.

They review your app in the context of the major your applied with. Then when you are admitted, you are admitted into the particular college where you must declare your major after 1 semester at Berkeley. So basically you are still held to the standards and reviewed based on the major you applied with.

And depending on major the first semester you’ll have a conditional agreement.

Chance me PLEASE!!!
Note: One-year transfer.

Major: ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING
GPA: 4.00 (both transferable and overall)
CCC: Irvine Valley College
IGETC: No
Pre Reqs: all completed!
EC: moderate (7/10)
TAG: UCI
Applied: UCB, UCLA, UCI, UCSD, UCD
Accepted: UCSD
Rejected: None yet

@Nirsimha I’ve always found chancing pretty pointless because none of us are in any way qualified to provide anything more than a somewhat educated guess. That said, those stats look pretty good. Good luck.

@Nirsimha - you are in.

@Nirsimha , hard to tell. One year transfer is a little more difficult.

@slantrhymes I am just so nervous about my chances, and just want to get an idea from anyone who has any clue! Thanks tho!

@HumbleTeen I hope so! Thanks.

@spenceyboi Why do you say a one-year would be difficult? I mean I have over 60 credits, so…fingers crossed!

Transferring after one year means your ECs are likely less filled out as you had less time, and UCs are harsher as they can’t really see if you have grade consistency as they only see your grades for one semester. Regardless, you should have a good shot and if you don’t get in, just stick it out another year and you’ll be in.
