Accepted :-D!!!

Hello guys I am a current Haas student and I transfered last Fall. Congratulations to all of you accepted to this amazing school! I have to say that as a transfer student there are some barriers you might face when coming into Haas. I have created a Facebook Group for you guys with hopes of connecting the Class of 2014 transfers with other transfers Classes (2012, 2013)

I highly recommend searching on Facebook for Haas School of Business Transfer Class '14 (Facebook group) or PM me for more information and ill add you.

We will share with you all we know and have experienced as transfers, the barriers you will have to confront and what staff, faculty and admissions won’t tell you about classes, internships and succeeding in a highly competitive environment.

Congratulations once again!

Big congrats to the new transfer admits! Like UCBhaas said, join the group, meet your classmates and ask us questions - we are previous transfers and are here to help :)

Hi, all

I’m an incoming freshman at the UIUC Business school, and I’m thinking about applying to transfer to HAAS. My freshman application was pretty much disastrous; I churned out essays for ten (!) colleges in three weeks! When I apply for transfer, I’m determined to do it right. I’m getting myself familiarized with the process, and I hope you guys could help me out here.

I’d like to know if it’s advisable to apply for transfer in my freshman year. I know that for HAAS, the application deadline is November 30th, and I’m concerned that less than three months in a new college is insufficient to have done anything of note. This automatically means that I have to rely on my high school grades and activities, and it seems to me that if I wasn’t admitted the first time, re-applying with slightly improved, but largely similar stats isn’t going to help much.

Furthermore, I know that HAAS has certain credit requirements, and is it possible to meet them in my freshman year? Btw, I took ‘A’ Level Math, Bio, Chem and Econs, and got an A for all of them.

ETA: If, after the application deadline, I manage to get an internship, is it possible to send an update? I do have some work experience, but nothing truly major, I’m afraid.

Also, could anyone please recommend a resource from which I could learn more about the transfer process in general? I’m still very ignorant on this topic, I’m afraid.

Any help from you guys is greatly appreciated! :)

Congratulations on everyone accepted to Haas this year!

As a CCC future transfer applicant looking for some guidance for next year’s cycle, I have two questions:

(1.) Haas lists their average GPA for accepted transfers as 3.81; how does Haas calculate CCC applicants GPA?

Is this GPA the applicants overall GPA such as how how it appears on their CC transcript, as it calculates GPA for ALL classes taken (transferable + nontransferable incl.)?
OR
Is this GPA the applicants UC transferable GPA in only UC transferable courses?

(2.) Is there any advantage to completing all their 7-course breadth requirement BEFORE transferring? The Haas website lists that it “encourages” applicants to spread breadth coursework throughout 4 years, but I am confused as to the advantages (or disadvantages?) if I elect to complete all breadth requirements prior to applying?

Thanks so much everyone, congratulations again.

^

  1. only UC-transferrable courses are calculated in the gpa, this is for all UCs.
2.the 7-course breadth was mandatory for consideration for admission before 2011 (a lot of apps were thrown out because they didn’t complete the breadth), now it’s recommended. You probably will have an advantage over people who haven’t completed them, but not as much as before.

Pros: BREADTH allows you to have an advantage over other applicants into CAL.
Cons: You only limit your application to Berkeley by not following IGETC

@stephen 91: do you know how many transferable units Cal will take into account when calculating the GPA?

They calculate your uc gpa using all of your uc transferable units. But they only take up to 70 when you transfer IIRC.

Hi! I am applying this fall to
Let’s fight for Haas!

Bump ! !!!

Guys please can you share GPAs ?
