Rejected as well and it sucks knowing for sure that I’m not going to Davis for college…my top school Wish I could just completely move on but still waiting on Santa Cruz
I got rejected today, as well as many others who shared their status here. Now I am considering appealing, just as one last shot before I finally move past Davis and onto the school I already SIR’d to.
Is anyone else appealing or at least considering it? What are your thoughts?
Honestly I think there are no spots left. There’s a lot of good stats on here with s rejection. As previously mentioned, embrace the college you SIR’ed to and go enjoy college! There’s always the CC TAG route.
My daughter was also rejected. Was on waitlist for EE. Sounds like no one was accepted from the waitlist.
@classofbroke2022 sadly the appeal period is over :((
is there literally any other way to let the admissions office know now of anything we didn’t put in our application that could help us
@ouigarcon What do you mean the appeal period is over? They said appeals are due on June 3, which is next week.
I see a lot of heartbreak on this thread and I’d like to stress the CC Tag option. If you have a lot of AP credits you can finish in a year at CC.
Guaranteed admission! Not all majors have it, but it’s something I wouldn’t overlook. Admissions is cruel, and it looks like no one got in. There is no shame for choosing a CCC—a lot of them are great.
(I didn’t know about TAG as an incoming freshman but I wish I had known. I would’ve done Davis if I had)
Best of luck to whatever decision you choose and wherever you end up.
@classofbroke2022 oh i didnt know that omg

do we have to update our spring grades again if we already did it previously
@ouigarcon if u got off the waitlist, update ur spring grades to what they are at the end of this school year
I was rejected (duh) and I’m looking into transferring from the UC that I’m attending. However, the TAG students from the CC are given priority so I feel like that’s a great option to consider if you’re madly in love with Davis
@ndhi786 u can only transfer between UCs during junior and senior year, so if ur looking to transfer in freshman/sophomore year, i’d highly recommend taking the CC route
I called the admission office. I was told that about 5,000 freshman were accepted but no one off wait list of 3,000. Does anyone else feel that the numbers don’t add up. Don’t they normally admit more freshman. Is it that difficult to predict how many accept that they have to put 3,000 on the wait list.

Thank you, @Parent90278 for the information. I agree the UCs could do a better job in researching trends of student applications, acceptances in their institutional analysis departments. I knew this year was going to be tough given the year 2000 was a big year for US births. For 2016 (https://www.sariweb.ucdavis.edu/commondataset/cds20162017.pdf), Davis admitted ~28,000 students, and offered waitlist spots to ~9,300 (of which 3100 took a spot and 2500 were offered admittance) for a final class of 5,700. Seems like a lot of effort and resources for a low yield.
The one positive thing about the waitlist was that it is an acknowledgement that a student was qualified to be considered versus a flat-out rejection. Regardless, the UCs didn’t have the space to take everyone. The system is broken and now having gone through this painful process for my oldest son, I will definitely do things differently with my younger one. I’m embracing the saying “you will bloom wherever you are planted”!
I’m telling everyone to make sure they apply to a number of out of state schools.
@parent90278 Totally agree. We saw some amazing schools out-of-state, and who had early action options which were wonderful for receiving good news before the holidays.
@cutiepie679 I know but I’m going to a UC anyways so I think I’ll take advantage of the UC education for two years. I don’t plan on transferring during the first 2 years. Thanks for the tip tho!
