Personal statements: I talked about myself and that was what I was supposed to do. I think they were okay.

Getting worried now especially since UCI tends to do acceptance -> waitlist -> rejection. Hopefully we get an update within the next couple days.
@TayDee I’m applying as software engineering with 3.56 gpa( CSU Transfer right here) but I dropped my physics class today (deadline was today) I really hope I don’t get rescinded. Hasn’t gotten in yet. Do you guys think that dropping a class right now is bad? Please help because I dropped at the last moment and also the deadline was today to drop.
@MichaelJarvis i finished all prereqs except for Calc 2 and Accounting 2. Calc 1 I got a B and Accounting 1 I got an A and got an A for both econ courses and an A for Business 1 and Stats.

I was waitlisted two years ago. At that time, I applied as a Computer Science major and wasn’t igetc certified. This time I am igetc certified and put my major as Software Engineering. Really hoping this isn’t the only batches of acceptances and I get in. My girlfriend got in for Sociology and I just checked her portal yesterday and she wasn’t accepted at that point. Seems like a big rollout occurred today.

@taydee . i’m really desperate to get into irvine for my self-pride since my friends got accepted to better schools than me. i sacrificed a lot this year to hopefully get into irvine. i think my essays and my work load may hopefully pay off because I took about 55 units since past summer to hopefully get in (i’m a freshman transfer)

Hey guys I have a question. I’ve been at a california CC for 3 years and I just checked the portal and I was admitted as a senior. When you apply don’t you automatically get junior level standing? Why did I get senior level standing? Does this mean I get my degree after just one year? Sorry for the dumb questions, I’ve always been confused by all the stuff that goes into college admissions.
@sodapop111 You sound like a hard-working person and I think you have nothing to worry about. Just let them know that you dropped the class, and if possible, try to take it somewhere in the Summer time. I know Physics is hard to come by in the summer for majority of schools, but I took upper level physics in summer once before. I think you’ll be ok.

@ParadoxicalFire I don’t think it really matters. But its actually great for you because you can get first round classes and have a bs reason to get into classes than underclassmen. TL;DR : You get first pick for classes

Define better school because I think Irvine is a great school for any CS related majors. I chose Irvine because it has a really strong field in what I want to go into (AI, robotics). My professor always told me that UCLA CS Majors are theoretical and there’s nothing interesting about it, UCSB is strong in cyber security. Choose your school for what you want to do In the future, not pride(CAL, UCLA). Don’t look down on yourself just because your friends go to a “better school,” because I don’t think a persons intelligence is defined by your GPA or what school you go to. I really hope you get into Irvine.
