Official UC Rejection thread

I decided that rather than making a decision thread that is overwhelming bias towards accepted decision, I would make a rejection thread that will paint a picture of what types of students got rejected from the UC's. I believe that this thread will be cleaner and easier to navigate by future transfer applicants since people will not be speculating about other things, that will be left to the decision threads. This will also give people a good a idea of what kind of students the UC's reject.

Was rejected to UCSB due to my counselor messing up my math course. I took Calculus 3 my freshmen year when I should have taken Calculus 2. So since I didn’t fulfill the requirements for the TAG I then was put in the regular bracket and with a GPA of only 3.73 That wasn’t enough but I am writing a letter of appeal due to this mishap.

Next Friday…

@bigbd22, I’m surprised UCSB rejected you, your GPA is higher than their average I think

@randombookie It was because the Calculus 2 fiasco. They said I have a very high chance of getting in if I appeal and explain why I didn’t have credit for calc. Seeing how UCSB doesn’t accept anyone who hasn’t completed the math requirements I was already in bad standings… Even though I completed Calc 3 a year and a half ago haha

Well… I just got rejected from UCLA

@jimmyofw what are your stats?

@ocnative
But my friend, 3.9 ,finished all, doesn’t have a gap… also was rejected

@Couldbeit‌

You should appeal. I thought Statistics wasn’t a highly selective major at UCLA? Damn that sucks.

Gap’s are not really an issue. I finished HS in 03, didn’t enroll into college courses till 09. I had gaps there as well, the reason was because of work. I would take a semester off then go back, but got into a groove a couple years back and knocked it out. Grades are important, quite important, but your essay is the X-facotr, it makes a huge difference. I was lucky enough to get my essays reviewed by my old English professor, who said my essays were excellent. I was IGETC certified, no TAG. Always have somebody review your essays, not a peer*, somebody that has gone to college, or even ask a professor if they can. It can make a world of difference.
