Official UC Santa Barbara Admit Rate % for 2006

I saw a UCSB rejection letter. They said that they received 40,000 applications and only accepted 4,000 students.

**
10% admit rate.**

that's not true

They have 4,000 places, but since a relatively low percentage of acceptances attend, they accept many many more

they probably accept four times as many people as they have room for, since most people choose not to go. i'm guessing the acceptance rate was 40-50%, at the lowest.

Yeah, that 4000 is the enroll amount Usually, the enroll rate is something like 20% of accepted applicants. So that would mean the acceptance amount is something like 20,000, or 50%, which is pretty standard for UCSB.

the website said the average GPA for getting into UCSB was 3.99

megadeth is a cool band.

lol...10percent use ur head

Although a friend's daughter with some ok stats didn't get in...Interestingly enough though, she did get into UCSD which I heard was tougher. So who knows...

From the ISI Guide 2006 "Choosing the Right College":
UCSB Admittance Rate: 53%

haha i feel sorry for those who didnt get in SB. i, on the other hand, somehow managed to not only get accpeted into the school, but also into the honors program. they said the "high achieving applicants" are the top 10% of applicants. the ave gpa of this group is 3.98.

3.68, 1990, 730 IIC, 690 chem, almost no EC's, above average essays.

according to the UC packet that was sent out, the acceptance rate for SB was around 53% last year and i dont think the acceptance rate this year is much different.

piypgm -
Were u in ELC?
Are u going to be attending UCSB?

no i was not ELC and as i said before my gpa is a 3.68. i know UC's dont look at rankings but i was about 100/450. i think the only reason why i got in was because my class load was insane last year. ap core classes plus 2 ap science course- chem, bio.

im thinking about either UCI or UCSB

UCSB 10% admit rate? That's impossible, LOL Almost Yale-ish! Yeah maybe 40-50 at the lowest (discordial)

Interestingly enough though, she did get into UCSD which I heard was tougher.

There have been at least two posters on CC who mentioned the same thing, maybe it's a bit closer between the two schools this year.

bresdude: megadeth is a cool band i heard when they got in fights they ripped out the toilets and threw them at each other!

"no i was not ELC and as i said before my gpa is a 3.68. i know UC's dont look at rankings but..."

Uhhh, UCs do look at rankings, thats what the ELC thing is.

well if you look at that way, then yes, UC's do look at rankings, but i dont think theres a difference between rank 20 or 50 as long as you are top 20% or whatever qualifies you for ELC.

Its top 4%.

it may be top 4% but i know for a fact that more than 18 people in my grade recieved ELC when the class size is 450. more than 50 students recieved ELC.
