What made you choose the UC you SIRed to?

Full ride, priority registration, one of the best vet schools in the country and a great med school close by, the teachers I plan to take classes with, extended library borrowing privileges, existing connections for research/intern opportunities, great affordable housing directly across the street from the campus, a quarter system to quickly knock out some missing prereqs and a collaborative educational environment. It was very difficult to turn down UCLA, UCSD, and UCB. Every single person with an M.D. or PhD that I talked to agreed Davis was clearly the best option. Under ordinary circumstances the choices for my major would have been UCSD or Berkeley. Davis just happened to work out to be a better fit and, since they’re a great school that is willing to make an investment in me, I’m willing to make a commitment to them.

For people that SIR’d to Berkeley, where do u do that? I can’t find anything but financial aid…

What made you choose the UC that you SIRed to?
- I went back and forth from UCSD and Cal for awhile until I decided UCSD was right for me. I visited both campuses and I honestly love both of them and you can’t go wrong at either school. I’m premed so GPA/MCAT score trump prestige/school name. I feel it might be a tad easier at SD, but not a cakewalk by any means. The living situation is also much nicer at SD for us transfers, practically brand new living quarters. Plus, I can get a single with a beach view for 4k less than a double at Cal. I wouldn’t be anything less than ecstatic at either school. Maybe I’ll get into UCSF med and get the bay experience in a few years.

I have a question.

If you SIR to one UC, does that mean you have to go back to the other UC portals and manually decline their offer of admission? Or can you just ignore them.

just ignore them. if they don’t hear from you by june 1 they presume you have no intention of going there anyways.

What made you choose the UC that you SIRed to?
Brand Name, campus is straight gorgeous, people are gorgeous, so cal, and prestige.

@KarmaGo What you should probably do, in my opinion, is decline their SIR just so they KNOW for sure, and maybe some waitlister will get in.

Which UCs did you apply to?
UCLA, UCB, UCI, UCSB, USC, UCR

Which UCs did you get accepted to?

Which uC are you going to send in your SIR to?
maybe UCI?

@tall

Yeah that’s what I was thinking. I wouldn’t feel very considerate out of my own laziness to click a few buttons. I SIR’ed to Cal so I hope 2 wait listers get to take my spots at UCLA & UCI.

What made you choose the UC that you SIRed to?: I’m interested in their undergraduate opportunities, as well as their graduate school - figure if I can do really well in their undergraduate studies, I might have a good chance of getting in.
It’s an awesome school, beautiful architecture, interesting history, overall a great campus. As a bonus, I live nearby so I can stay near friends and family. Love L.A. :)

What made you choose the UC that you SIRed to?
UCR and UCSB were back-up schools. Hopefully the schools that I waitlisted to (UCI/UCSD) will end up accepting me.
