wait… could anybody post a copy of the international financial aid e-mail? for some reason, I am not receiving any e-mails from UChicago… including the advertisements

^ Thank you for applying to the University of Chicago. According to our records, you have NOT applied for need-based financial aid. Please note that as an international student, if you do not apply for financial aid before your admissions decision is finalized, you will not be eligible for any subsequent financial aid if you are admitted. We recommend that students do not rely on merit-based aid if they do not have the funds to afford their entire four years of schooling.

this is just the first paragraph.

I got that email too, but I don’t really think it means anything other than confirming that we, as international students, are not applying for financial aid at UChicago.

nicklillie, I think you can email or call admissions and let them know. They will let you know if you need to take any extra steps. I assume this means you got good news somewhere else. Congratulations!

@Pennyoony: thanks!

@nicklillie
Just call the admissions office and tell them you would like to withdraw your application from consideration. Good luck! Thank you for making room for more people!

Would it be poor form to email my admissions officer thanking him for looking at my application and attaching a picture of my cat ? (Who I wrote one of my essays about)? My cat’s pretty adorable

I’ve met my admissions officer, he visited my school :)

are you sure? :S where does the information come from? Cuz I know somebody who said he’s been accepted already… Thanks!

^ if you’re talking about the admissions decisions, they announced the date on their ViewChicago videos last week. I’m not sure how they know, but decisions are most certainly NOT out yet.

No problem I will call tomorrow. Good luck everyone! And if your curious I got accepted at Claremont McKenna College

Sent from my HTC One X using CC

My friend got into CMC today, too! Great school.
Thank you for withdrawing your app and making room for us hopefuls :)

If someone who got in somewhere else ED, withdraws their application from Chicago, will Chicago then give their place to someone else (provided the person withdrawing their app was accepted).

Does this question even make sense?

^That would be a good question to ask Grace on the ‘ask an admissions counselor’ thread. I don’t think they necessarily will another person EA this late in the game, but I would definitely think they would have room for another person to accept in the RD round.

@pennforme
I don’t think so. But it will open up a spot for the RD round since most EA applicants don’t make a decision until the RD round is complete and Chicago has to take that into account during the RD round. If you made it promptly and withdrew from Chicago, they would count a proportion of that spot open in RD. Ex. For every 3 EA applicants that withdraw they might open up an extra RD round slot for another person. This is just hypothetical of course.

@CaptainKrunch / @drac313 thanks guys, ill check out the other thread. but i think what you’re saying make sense. I don’t think they’ll be able to accept more people now… :(

could someone please tell me which is our big day of checking the decision? Thanks! :)

does anyone know exactly how many students uchicago admits early? is it like 1500?

^ Tuesday 18th of December, “late afternoon”

thx so much!.. now anxiety creeps everywhere in me
