Official Uchicago Ea Decision Thread

I feel bad for applying while having doubts about whether I would attend.

I never realized that things would become much better here over the span of a couple months!

I emailed Jerry at 4:20 pm yesterday and he hasn't got back to me ....

Of course, that doesn't really matter. It's not like they would "give me your spot." :) They factor all that stuff in, so there's really no reason to feel bad.

If they reject me, it's simply because they don't want me as the type of student they are looking for. But I'm confident that my essays/test scores/academic record/recs prove that I could handle the school. If they reject me because they don't think I could handle it, then they are as blind as bats. lol

I have accepted rejection in my future.

I wish I could do the same.

But I can't completely expunge the idea that there is at least a slight probability that I might be surprised on Monday/Tuesday. And that drives me insane.

I'd rather have my original odds (pre-Friday) or no odds at all.

Well I was thinking last night that those people who got accepted were already accepted beforehand. Which means our odds are the same now as they were friday. They were just notified earlier. And how many people were notified on friday?

That's something I wish we knew, but Jerry's not saying.

If all those who were not notified were rejectees, Jerry would tell you.

The fact is that decisions have not been made. There is no other reason to withhold them.

But does my logic make sense? In terms of pre and post friday odds.

Nspeds, that's true. I'm quite sure they were not all rejectees. What I'm afraid of is that the email'd people are like 99.9% of the acceptees, and Jerry is just playing it safe by not letting us infer that no email = rejection.

O.k... O.k... I just realized that I've gone overboard. I'm analyzing this way too much. :D

I feel that way too John, as if the emailed people were all of them and there is 1-2 spots left they are deciding over, but I feel thats not the case as they offer ~200 spots and i gues we have only heard from 10 people tops and lets factor in people not on the board about 30-40 people which means about 50 spots are filled so far. Who knows. But I agree with nspeds in that they are still making decisions, my transcript arrived late i think because i sent it with snail mail so they are still deciding.

There as no logic involved.

Yes. Relax. There is nothing you can do but wait.

I forget that you are a philosophy major.

nspeds: so you did not receive the email but called up and were an admit?

and secondly I think they would have filled more than have the spots so far, or they wouldn't have emailed.

I dont understand what that means O'Fancy.

filled more than half of the spots [they they were going to admit]

Maybe. Who knows really.

I did not receive that frosh e-mail at either of my addresses, but I did receive the congratulatory e-mail after I found out I was accepted over the phone.

are you guys considering the additional core requirements that are placed on you kinda late in the game? does anyone have any insight on this? i might apply as a junior transfer, but it seems like i will have to do all this stuff that my current school doesn't require when i should be working on my major. and of course, it would be impossible to study abroad as a junior transfer and still graduate in 4 years...

I am thinking the same. I will tell you what happens when I receive my course eval : ).

You could study abroad in the summer, by the way.
