Official Uchicago Early Action Results

Well, it's a pretty stupid question...Chicago has EA, Rice has ED. A Chicago acceptance has no bearing if you're accepted to Rice; you have to go to Rice. Have you not looked into this?

yeah you shoudl let U of C know about your ED.

rob, as a urm, i believe that you shouldn't have any problems getting into uchi. you are also applying to one of the nations more prestigious schools that also happen to accept a large portion of their applicants. combine those two factors and your chances are very high. you also noticed that their were few rejections on cc. that either means the rejected were too devastated to post or uchi wants a second bite of the apple after they determine how many of the accepts actually choose to attend uchi.

You should have a good shot with good essays, although I think that Chicago is going to be tougher this year than last. Send in your PSA as supplemental material, and be sure to note the award on your application. Interview if you can - shouldn't be a problem for with all your debate credentials.

Also - regarding rejections - I think they are somewhat underreported on CC. However, I think that in general the kids on CC tend to beat the average admissions rates for most colleges - looked about double the average for the Harvard SCEA and Princeton ED admits also.

yeah. i hope they will take supplementals at a later date, but i willd efinitely send it in. it is really cool

also black n blue, excuse my naiveness, but what is an urm? you stated you were one.....sorry. i bet it is really obvious!

Under Represented Minority. Such as Hispanics and Blacks - contrast with Over Represented Minority(ORM) such as Asians.

rob: i'm not a urm, but it is very beneficial in the college admissions process. that status can get you to places one may not otherwise be able to get to. do not underestimate its value. check the ed stats on the brown and dartmouth forums. if your verbal scores were higher, you would almost be a lock at...dare i say...hyps. even so, i would definately take a shot at brown, cornell or dartmouth. aws is also within range.

i really only have an interest in princeton, rice, u of chicago, uf, and nyu.

i feel 100% about nyu and uf. 75% on u of c and rice. 10% on princeton

where a place is plays a big role in my decision. since bcd are all in places that dont really intrigue me, i havent looked much into them

i also try to stay away from ivy leagues....too much money in all of 'em and the people i have met from them are all really stuck up.

plus, we all know u of chicago is the best school in the country!:)

codeblue87 will definitely get accepted to stanford, his essays are phenomenal. i wont disclose them without his permission, but i thought mine were really good then i read his and...damn. this is in response to Blacknblue's comment.

well, today i got a letter from chicago saying they won't give me any need-based money. i don't get it, i'm not even remotely rich. for some reason i think my mom reported stuff wrong...

if i get in to stan, i will be overjoyed, and i'd go there rather than uchi.

haha, thanks for the optimism mike.

What's your family's income per year?

No money? No loans? Nothing? Are you an IL resident?

no, i live in FL. my parents are divorced and both remarried, but my mom has custody. she makes 40k a year.

they offered a loan of 2675 dollars i think, or they said it was 'available.'

Did you file the Non Custodial Parent Statement? How much does your dad make?

You can appeal if you think there has been a mistake, I would call the financial aid office.
