Stats mean nothing dude

it's all about the meaning of the individual

not in huge public schools. MAYBE in privates. if it was all about the meaning of the individual, it would be a world gone mad :)

LOL, stats mean A LOT for getting into college.

but not everything

They are right dude.... For public schools getting this many apps, its MOSTLY about stats. Look at the princeton review surveys that quote admissions officers. The most significant factors are the GPA and the SAT. If stats meant "nothing" then why is it that only about 10% of people below a 4.0 weighted got into LA/Berkeley?

^^ its highly competitive school, hence highly motivated students with extremely well rounded applications.

^ And part of "well rounded" is having good grades. The typical Cal/UCLA "well rounded" applicant has about a 4.0 or higher, as well as excellent ECs.

Interesting how this thread has shifted from being about UCI to Cal/UCLA

General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc: I think the first batch is just the CHP/Regents group, so don't be discouraged if you haven't heard anything back from UCI. The stats right now are going to be higher than the average stats for UCI acceptance when all of them roll out.

^LOL. So, it seems like no one with the major of economics got accepted yet? I chose economics as my 1st and business economics for my 2nd choice. Could this explain for a delay?
