Official UCI Transfer admittance Thread

How hard is to go through thousands and thousands of applicants?! sarcasm

based off of their responses on facebook, seems like decisions will be released end of the day today or tomorrow, but i’m not sure how late tomorrow (like 3am early tomorrow or 11pm tomorrow?).

@jvo331

I’ve seen that you can call admissions (past threads). I think you can even ask what the avg. admit GPA was, but I think you have to wait until after all decisions have been posted? Can someone verify? I am going to call in May, I know my GPA was low…etc…If you want to know the details, you know commiserate, then send me a message.

i’m still pending as well. sucks to wait… let alone until friday like @darkpain said :(

“There are no messages for you at this time” My kid calls to tell me this about his UCI application . . . zzzzzzzzzzzot As an alumnae, it’s a little embarrassing when your university doesn’t keep up with it’s own stated admissions deadline.

Still pending here as well.

I don’t even care for UCI though. It’s too close to home and I’d have to live at home if I went there. I just want to know if I got in or not so I could say “f*** you UCI” haha. I love that they think they’re all prestigious and s*** lagging on their decisions like everyone applied to UCI or something–I bet that UCLA, CAL, and SD had more applicants than Irvine did, and they finished before the deadline 5/1. Beyond ridiculous.

I’m really starting to regret submitting an SIR to UC Davis, because I have to somehow to get 4k since they won’t cover that much, while UC Irvine gave me nearly 15k, work study, and loans to cover the rest. Ughhhhhhh. :’(

@ Stressy

My son’s financial aid offer (loans only) from Davis was also much lower than what was offered by UCSB, UCSC, and UCR. I wonder why? Also I’m wondering how UCI will come through if he gets in there.

@Stressy well you could submit your SIR to UCI still if you haven’t declined. Just hope they don’t catch you SIR-ing to two places!

@MaMoi: UCR and UCSC were basically paying my whole way. Irvine was quite generous as well. It’s just Davis being a bit stingy.

@IcedEspresso: I haven’t declined UCI. I don’t have the heart to! Hahah. I’m pretty sure I can cancel my SIR to UCD, but that’d be a hundred dollar loss, which isn’t so bad. I wish I wasn’t so stuck in the middle between the two; however, Davis and their financial aid package is slowly pushing me away. I’ll e-mail them before I decide on anything. -__-

@Stressy

Apart from financial considerations, what made you initially choose Davis over UCSC or UCI, I totally understand UCR is less . . . um, glamorous?

@Mamoi: Santa Cruz is a lovely school, but I just couldn’t see myself there and to be honest, my family wasn’t very fond of me going there due to the old stereotypes attached to students and the dorms. I’m not too much of a beach-y type of person either.

Irvine, I love Irvine. It was actually my first choice until they took forever to get back to me. I started looking more into Davis and I fell in love with Davis. They also have tons of research and internship opportunities at hospitals and ultimately I’d like to be a doctor. Davis is also far enough to get away from home, but close enough to visit often. Irvine is about an hour or so away, meaning I’d have to commute and I wouldn’t get much of the “college experience” if I have to go back and forth and I waste time that way. :confused: I mean, I could dorm at Irvine, but I don’t think it’s worth 14k when I live so close by. I could also get an apartment, but Irvine is an expensive city. In terms of academics, I’d say they’re neck and neck, so despite whatever choice I truly stick to, I’ll be fine, I think. >.<

@Stressy yeah definitely give UCD’s financial aid office a call to see what’s up and HOLY MOLY. commuting 1 hour each way to UCI? that’s nuts man. it sucks when the distance is weird. it’s either too close for you to move completely but the commute is way too long.

@MsUCFan I have no clue. They never emailed me or anything to tell me to check my status. I just randomly checked it yesterday and it said I was accepted. I totally forgot about it since I got accepted to UCSD last Monday so it could have been at most a week ago.

@ Stressy
You have a choice of two excellent schools, so yep, you’ll be fine. I attended Irvine waaay back when, and my siblings did too, so my son pretty much knows what to expect. Santa Cruz had an “out there” reputation so I understand your family’s take on it. My son however, LOVED UCSC, so it’s still in the mix for his decision. He has lived in the Mojave desert his whole life, so he craves LESS sun and wants rain some of the time. Davis is beautiful from their videos. When we go check it out, I’m sure it will be great. My husband went to UCSB, a beautifully situated school, so I don’t know how my son will be able to choose.

im still pending as well, i guess its going to come out either today or tommorow at the latest based on the response from uci admissions on fb.

has anyone been waitlisted yet?

I sent a request to change my major last week and it was approved today. It took approx 2 business days to go be completed
