Official UCI Transfer admittance Thread

Yea definitely we should keep this going.
Anyone else had any obligation that affected your gpa?
I have realized a lot of people with mediocre gpa who get waitlisted usually have an obligation lol
For me it was financial my family bought their first house ever and we didnt make enough to pay the morgage so I had to get a full time job to help out my family and that fd up my grades at 1 point I had a 2.87 keep in mind at the end of the first year I had a 3.9 lol There was also the fact I didn’t know what I wanted to do I was jus picking business cuz of my friends so finally my brother got a very good job and I realized I was an idiot for picking business as my major even though I was not interested in it and at the time I was reading the volums of Gandhi and was inspired to go to law school and go into politics hopefully. Though I feel this is an excuse to justify my bad grades if I was really motivated full time job or not no one could have stopped me lol but it’s all good even if I dont get in cuz I made it to a school.
But man I feel so envious of people who can go to school full time with no job and their parents pay for it.
Also if you could go back In time would you do anything differently?
I personally would not because It helped me figure out what interests me

Is anybody else still pending? I had a 3.67 applying for transfer to psych major and my home screen still has not changed and its already May 2nd. Doesn’t this affect my ability to put myself on the wait list if I get wait listed??

Still pending…I’m a UC-to-UC Senior transfer…
No idea about the wait-list question.

@rawbeanz i think they might be considering whether to accept u or put u on the waitlist…i don’t see any reason that they would reject a 3.67 especially that psych does not require the completion of the prereq. and u have until may 15th to put yourself on the waitlist. you should wait until friday if they still haven’t notified you then you should call…

@rawbeanz I’m still pending too. When I asked admissions they told me:

“Only a few are still pending because we are waiting for information from you or the academic unit! Check message center and your application updated to make sure that we are not waiting on anything from you.”

I haven’t gotten any messages from them so it’s most likely the major department is still deciding over my app and haven’t sent their decision yet to admissions.

I would wait until Friday too. If I don’t hear anything from them by Friday I’ll definitely give admissions a call.

edit::It would really suck to wait this long only to be rejected…

@IcedEspresso good luck to you buddy :)

@darkpain

I’m still pending too. I had a good GPA, then it dropped because my grandmother got really sick (was in the ICU for a year) and I would help care for her, look after younger siblings when my parents were caring for her, and work part-time for my parents so they didn’t neglect their business. I explained this in my application as to why my grades fluctuated. (Sorry, not trying to be Debbie Downer or anything haha just seeing if anyone has advice about my application status)

Then I brought my GPA up again. Still, overall, its not great (around a 3.0) They also requested my unofficial transcripts (I think to verify academic renewal) I just really hope it’s not a big fat rejection! That would suck bc its my 1st choice!

@lakersgirl08

well I hope they take your actions beyond your personal interests as an important positive factor in reviewing your situation. take this as not whether you will be approved or not, but that you are able do so much no matter what issues come your way.

@buranka Thank you for the kind words! :)

Hix, I’m still pending too. My major is Music (Piano performance). I really passed the piano audition and was accepted by Claire Trevor School of the Arts. I don’t why. I’m so stress and can not concentrate on my study.

@domystud89 thanks I appreciate it :]

@lakersgirl08 hopefully they should. UCI did switch to transfer holistic review this year.

and good luck to all of us who are still pending.

what i want to know is… last year everyone on UCI’s waitlist was admitted. BUT, how many opted in? knowing how many were offered the waitlist is one thing, but knowing how many opted in is the real info.

I am still pending. Waiting to hear back is driving me crazy!

@dancemasterv
Last year 1000 were waitlisted and all were accepted.

I believe the info can be found in Ms. Sun’s blog. Someone about 1 or pages 2 pages back had a link to that information.

Stats:

Admitted
GPA:3.17
Major: mathematics
Units completed: 61(after spring)
IGETC: yes
Volunteer: 100 hrs
Work experience: 3 years
Essays: Good

^ congrats! Good to see uci is still admitting people at this time. Good luck to those of that r still pending!

@TransferStress there are still some of us pending as well. Admissions said they are still waiting on information from my unit department (i’m an informatics major) but I don’t know what kind of information they are waiting on.

It would really suck to be rejected at this point since it’s so late. They might has well rejected us earlier. Hopefully they’re deciding between accepting us or putting us on the waitlist.

@TL1990 i actually got accepted on apr 27 lol i was a bit late just thought i would share for ppl still waiting

@Ellada94 same but on the 28th; i don’t want people to get the wrong assumption for anything

@ellasa94 oh lol congrats to u anyways!
