Official UCI Transfer admittance Thread

I hate how there are people who submitted their SIP just to see if they got in even when they know for sure they’re not going to go even if they get in

I also called the irvine admission and they said the wait list is close to 3000 not 2100

^^holy moly. i’m guessing they’re not taking 100% off the waitlist this year…

Thank you
Im still waiting for USC and currently wait listed at UCSD

3000… Are u kidding me?! Omg…so about 2/3 of us are gonna be rejected…sigh

Anyone going to Transfer Admit Day today? I’ll be that one chick in heels, feel free to say hi!

hehe for sure! ill be wearin’ a purple shirt-- see ya there!

I’ll be there. Getting ready to leave from LA as I type.

AHHHHH its STILL PENDING!?!!?!!?

I emailed admissions and all they said to me was “You will hear very shortly.” I wish they had more to tell me even if i just wasn’t accepted =[

Still pending, as well… :(

So I saw this on Ms. Sun’s blog for Irvine transfer students

Irvine

The campus implemented comprehensive review for transfer admission!!!
It was a surprise for everyone (including the staff, apparently), since the campus had traditionally used an academic index approach for transfer admission. This, combined with the lower enrollment target (Irvine over-enrolled transfers last year), means a potentially different demographic of transfer students being admitted this year. Those of you who did not rely on the personal statement to explain special circumstances, such as working full-time or caring for family members, should appeal if you were not admitted, as such criteria are now considered for admission at Irvine.

what does that mean? Does that mean Irvine didn’t admit a lot of people this year?

How do you appeal the waitlist? Do you appeal it by waiting in the waitlist or what?

@rawbeanz @alexajam just checked my page and i’m still pending as well.

This is ridiculous.

^^yeah. just msged admissions through msg center asking what’s going on and when we’ll know of our decision.

Anyone know how to appeal a waitlist?!

@lawlking i think appealing and being on the waitlist is separate. you can still appeal while being on a waitlist but i know uci doesn’t implement the system like ucsd/ucd where you have to write a mini “personal statement” why you would be a good candidate for that campus if you’re waitlisted.

edit::You could send them an updated list of your grades if they have improved/are good/fulfilled more major classes or igetc.

to clarify you can still send in an appeal if you don’t think you’ll get accepted through the waitlist.

you can’t really appeal the waitlist. like i said you can send them an updated list of your grades if they have improved/are good/fulfilled more major classes or igetc. They may look at it which could help your waitlist case but there are no guarantees.

@IcedEspresso

You cannot send in new/improved grades. I tried to submit my grades for Spring because I am waitlisted and did well and I asked how to do it through a My Admissions Msg and my admissions counselor said that they cannot accept grades for review from certain students and not from others, so they aren’t accepting any at all :frowning: Its really unfortunate because if you did well/improved/completed pre-req the admissions committee should know about it and take it into consideration.

@astef001 aw that’s lame. waitlist decisions come after spring semester is over so you would think they would take that into consideration since so much time has passed. i guess waitlisters just have to sit it out…
