i hope the untimeliness of the admissions process does not indicate the inadequacy of other important student services!!

@buranka: LOL. Is anyone still waiting for a decision besides already waitlisted people?

I know people have to opt-in for the waitlist…wonder how many people will SIP considering 2100 people were offered the waitlist.

In response to UCLA being more diverse than SB- there is no way. This Latino culture at UCSB is amazing. The one thing I will say about UCSB is their student orgs and services are out of this world. I know their Veterans Org won the President’s award out of ALL the UCs and I know that volunteer work and research is above par there; there’s a women’s center and a non-traditional students center and the amount of support there is one to be reckoned with. They also have an alcohol & drug program with lots of awesome outreach work. UCI has few of these things but I don’t need all the support from the UC because my people are down there!

I’m leaving because I’m not happy. I am 25, I have children, I obviously don’t party and I’m over it. I miss my friends and I miss my family. And the weather is always so deceiving! Haha. I can’t necessarily put my finger on what it is that is missing up here, but something is definitely missing. Another thing, if you want an urban environment, UCSB is not for you. The closest Target is 45 minutes each way, the closest 24-hour fitness is in downtown (and it’s awful, so you have to pay $60/month for Spectrum). Almost everything is companies and franchises that are only in SB/Goleta/IV area with a few exceptions. At first, I was like, “cool, local businesses” but they aren’t, they are monopolies.
I like SB…for a vacation. But it is definitely not for this city girl…

I see we have a lot of bro haters here

Come at me brah!

brotally; people at UCSB are very broductive: they have really cool brograms such as computer brogramming-- but you have to be broactive if you want to do well. as far as the admissions brocess i dont think they are being broficient–theres not much they can do to bromote their reputation any other way.

^^oh dear lord XD

computer brogrammers…

@Alexajam: Cool thanks. Same here, I feel lost out of the city. I feel the same way, SB is a great place for vacation. I road tripped(if you can call it that) up to SB on the way up to Monterey Bay with my friends a few christmases ago and its a nice area. But to live? No thanks. I totally agree, I’m 24 and my partying days have come and gone. Before, I worked 45 hours a week for 4 years and i think that put the nail in the coffin for my partying days. haha. Whenever I had time off I wanted to sit around and collect dust, not party. lol.

LOL. brogrammers.

Does UCI send an acceptance packet like the other UC’s? Been accepted for a couple weeks and I’ve got nada.

Hi. I heard that for wait-listed people they either going to accept all of us or reject all of us. Is that true? Any idea. Hmm…'mm…

@AncientGammoner

I haven’t received anything either. If I remember correctly, the people admitted in the first couple batches had to wait a bit.

Do you guys know how the Cal Grant works for CCC transfer students? My status has been on “application still processing” and it says to check every week. Does anyone know when they will let everyone know whether they got anything or not? Also is it an all or nothing reward or do you get it based on financial need? Thanks guys.

@domystud & jdom
There is an actually mailed admissions packet. Received mines and other Uc’s about 2 weeks after the decision came out online.

@uciuci
I think all of the call grants are up in the air due to the budget. If you go to the official website for calling grants -which I can’t remember the url off the top of my head, webgrants 4 school or something?. gov- says it should have been processed in 3 days after filing the fasfa. Also in the past, call grants appeared on all fin aid packages along with Pell grants at the same time. I received the grants these past 2 years without a hitch, and I talked to a classmates working for my cc’s financial aid office and she also noted there was uncertainty about calling grants these years.

@uciuci
Sorry I am replying in two posts because I am typing from my phone and I don’t remember your whole post. Not sure what you mean by all or nothing, but you are given the grants based on financial need.

I meant if you get either 100% of the grant or nothing at all. Thanks for the info. I will keep checking on the cal grant website

With Cal Grant you either get it or you do not. One thing to take into consideration though is that if you qualify for a Cal Grant then you probably qualify for the Blue and Gold plan and both cover the same exact thing. So if you are not awarded a Cal Grant based on it being a competitive grant, etc, then you will qualify for the blue and gold and there fore the 14k in fees will be covered. UCI posted my financial aid letter this morning and at UCSB this past year I received the Cal Grant but UCI has it as a university grant, meaning they are waiting to see if the Cal Grant goes through, if it doesn’t then I get a grant through UCI under blue and gold.

Does that make sense?

I just declined my offer of admission. I hope it helps those on the waitlist. Good luck guys! :)

Does UCI have a facebook transfer group???

^^yes, there is the one for the transfer class of 2014…

You can PM me for the link.

well ive decided to go to ucsd; so one of you lucky waitlisters can have my spot!
