Official UCI Transfer admittance Thread

admitted on 4/30 and still no admission packet here either… thought I was the only one till I read you guys’ posts. :/

Just submitted my SIR and SLR!
Looking forward to attending a great institution with you guys fellow Anteaters!

I submitted my SIR on friday as well! Can’t wait to meet you guys!!! :smiley: does everyone know where they’re going to live in next year?

@fearthewrath no idea whatsoever :X

For those of you on the waitlist:

Now would be a good time to SIR to another campus if you haven’t already. Remember that you have to submit your SIR, SLR, housing application and possibly more. June 1st is fast approaching, so don’t let it pass by.

I submitted an appeal although I SIP’ed to the waitlist. Although to some UCI is not their first choice, it is mine.

I called and they said around 6100 transfer were offered admission and about 1500-2000 were offered a waitlist position (the person said closer to 1500). I dont know how reliable these figures are nor if it helps estimate how many people may be offered admission off of the wiaitlist, it is just information that was given to me by UCI Admissions.

me neither…how come it takes soooooo long…it is about 400miles from where i leave. it should not take that long even if the Courier walks all the way to bay area…lol

Does anyone know where the rumor of “UCI will admit everyone on the waitlist, or no one from the waitlist” came from? I’ve seen it posted multiple times but without any sources… All or none doesn’t seem like a very logical decision. If it is true though, I hope it’s all :]

@dancemasterv I agree! The all or none approach seems very odd to me as well. But I have a theory on that. I bet they’re waiting until June 1st when all the transfer SIRs have come in. Then they’ll see if they made the transfer quota. If they did then they’ll reject all from the waitlist and if not, they’ll accept everyone. Reviewing apps again in a short amount of time doesn’t seem feasible so I think they’ll just use that approach I mentioned.

But yeah, I would also like to know where the “all or none” rumor came from as well besides what SummonerLenne said.

@IcedEspresso

Hrmm… that definitely does make sense. Say they have 1000 spots open after June 1st, and they offer positions to the 1500-2000 waitlisted students. Not all waitlisted students will opt in, and if anything they’ll just have some extra students. This theory is works… but that’s only assuming that there is a somewhat large amount of spots open. If it’s only a few hundred then i doubt they’ll do that… They will have to resort to reviewing apps again (which I guess UCI hates because they take FOREVER) also putting into account the students that have appealed. Either way, I hope we ALL get in and find out soon!

Has anyone else on the waitlist submitted an appeal? If so, have you heard back yet?

@aaespino

I submitted an appeal, but haven’t heard anything yet. The UCI appeal info website says the appeal reviews will be late July/early August… But we’ll hear from the waitlist June 15th so hopefully we just get in from that!

Submitting an Appeal on the wait-list?

@ lawlking: Yes, you can “Appeal” being on the waitlist. I did not know about this either until I went personally into Admissions.

@ Dancemasterv : To me at least it makes sense to review rejection appeals after the waitlist, but waitlist appeals before taking people from the waitlist. I don’t know if they do it this way or not. I am anxious. I have the money to attend the University already but not the actual school lmao… so lame.

That’s interesting but I guess the appeal process is over?

Does it increase your chances of being accepted or what?!

so anyone that was accepted, did you get your admit package? if you did, would you mind telling me what it looks like? :P

@Lawlking: I have no idea to be honest. I actually found out about it late and submitted my paperwork late. I believe they would look at the appeal waitlisters first before they start taking people off of the waitlist as opposed to how traditionally they are supposed to look at appeals after they take people from the waitlist .

Declining my offer for Merage- Business Admin major. Hope it helps one of you wait-listed people!!!

I’ve been looking at UCI’s admissions facebook and a few admitted transfer students are at risk of being rescinded for not having the 60 unit requirement by the end of Spring 2012. I am sure there are others out there shy of 60 units that were accepted and might be rescinded. This is absolutely terrible for them, but it does give us waitlisters a better chance at getting in… I’m not happy that others might get rescinded, but that doesn’t change the fact that if they do, it directly benefits us.

@aaespino20 Yeah people can submit an appeal even if they’re on the waitlist. But I think they’re only going to look at the appeal if you DON’T get in through the waitlist. Either way, good luck!
