Official UCI Transfer admittance Thread

Congrats to those who got in already!! Mine hasn’t changed yet… :\ and I definitely know its not all or nothing. Can’t focus in my finals!!

How do you definitely know?

@aaespino20

I read on another thread that UCI had changed their policy this year because there was more transfer admittance this year. And yes, it has been all or none the previous years. I’ve called the office and they said it was true. :(

I have been told that the wailist is not ranked in any particular order. I don’t believe it is an all or nothing deal. How are people selected if they are not considering majors/GPA. I find it hard to believe that random people are being offered admission.

@TL1990 thank you. Hope high that you can get in too :slight_smile: Good luck.

Anyway, anybody know how to withdrawal registration? I have submitted registration to UCSB, but since I’m going to SIR UCI (stay local), should I call and inform them? or they have something in their portal to withdrawal my sit in UCSB. Any idea?

@domystud89

Call them.

I wish it was “all or nothing”. Sadly, I’m the one who called and asked about it and they told me it isn’t that way this year :frowning: I really want to go to uci.

^^maybe they’re just saying that just for the sake of…i don’t know. it’s weird how the admissions process is so secretive and they’re super vague about their answers. considering uci’s lack of promptness, i’m surprised they have time to review through all the waitlisters again. there’s been a decline of transfers that applied this year so don’t lose hope! there might be room for all of us!

Those of you that got in from the waitlist, what was your gpa?

hmm I wonder if people got rejected from the waitlist yet …

Has anyone else gotten accepted from the waitlist today?

I got in on Tuesday and when I applied, my gpa was 3.41 but I failed a bio class so it went down to 3.18 :frowning: I was little surprised when I was accepted from UCSB and UCI (waitlist).

I got in! I found out right when I woke up and immediately drove down there to check out the campus. The campus is pretty nice and everyone seemed happy and friendly. Now to make the tough decision between UCI and UCSB…(unless I get into UCSD!) My GPA at my CCC is 3.66, but including a 4-year 3.19.

From Ms. Sun’s UC Admissions Blog:

"Saw a few postings about the UCI transfer waitlist and checked with the admissions office again in the morning. The representative I spoke to emphasized that the all-or-nothing pattern is coincidental and that the number of students accepted from the waitlist depends entirely on the number of SIRs the campus receives. The representative seemed fairly certain that all waitlist decisions should be out by June 15.

Decided to call back in the afternoon to see if I can get the exact number of transfers expected to be pulled off the waitlist (long shot, I know). The representative (a different one) said that most students offered waitlist options have opted in (but not all of them) and that if things go the way of the past, most of the waitlisted students should be accepted.

I would caution you not to depend on getting accepted off the waitlist and make backup plans accordingly."

Thanks for the update . Okay so there’s still a chance for us waitlisters right ?

I just got into UCI off of the waitlist. GPA ~ 3.25

go anteaters!

@sbergh did you find out today ? Or did you get accepted earlier this week ?

From Ms. Sun’s UC Admissions Blog:

"UC Transfer Appeal Update:

Irvine - you can expect to hear back 4-6 weeks after you submit the appeal; most likely you will hear back by the end of June, maybe early July. Note: if you did not appeal when you were originally placed on the waitlist, you may still file an appeal."

And…still waiting… :(

Got into my dream school–picked off the wait-list at UCSD…so thought I’d share that I declined my SIR to UCI. Wish all you wait-listers the best and hope that they give you guys a spot ASAP :). Good luck everyone!!
