Official UCI Transfer admittance Thread

My major is East Asian Studies and my GPA is 3.072. Hopefully, my major being non-impacted will make a difference. Anyone know if it will?

I dont know why you guys focus on GPA. Unlike other campuses, UCI uses holistic review. If anything, they rate us all on some scale (everything combined, GPA, extenuating circumstances, etc.) and let us in that way. I know transfers personally that got in with 3.7’s and 2.8’s.

I just spoke to the woman at the Admissions office and basically, she was very vague. She said that they would “try” to get back to everyone by midnight and that she couldn’t reveal anymore information regrading the waitlist. I asked if your major plays a role at all, and she said it can “sometimes”.

I don’t understand the secrecy and vagueness. Why not just be straightforward? Like, 1. This is how we pick waitlists, 2. We should be done by June 15th, if not the latest by end of June, etc.

This gives them leeway to change the rules at the last second without having to answer for it.

^^Most definitely but it’s very rude. I suppose they can do whatever they want since there’ll always be plenty of ppl trying to get in.

Totally agree.

I asked why she had to be so vague and she said that it’s part of their policy. Great.

It’s for legal purposes

I am so tired of all this waiting :frowning: It is called a “deadline” for a reason…if you aren’t going to tell us by the “deadline” don’t make one, or call it something else!

Just checked the UC Irvine Admission FB page…some dude asked if we will hear back today about the waitlist as planned…UCI’s reply: You should hear soon, but it might not be today.

Shocking.

good job irvine… how can a highly ranked school not obey their own guidelines? …

Woah woah woah. Highly ranked is an over statement no?

The longer it takes for them, the better. Its in our favor. Stop stressing. It’s out of your hands.

Still, if they give a deadline they should keep it. If they knew it would take longer they should inform the students ahead of time instead of telling them the day of imo…

How is them taking longer in our favor?

Wow, children, I can’t imagine that you or I have any clue what goes into this process so why not just chill? And it’s in our favor because if they were just gonna tell everyone to take a hike, it wouldn’t take centuries to do it.

Anyone?

I think people do have a legitimate reason to complain about deadlines. It’s clearly stated in our SIP that we will be notified by June 15th and all of us have been waiting for half a year (since application deadline) to hear back from them. There’s no need to be condescending. 29 isn’t THAT old.

did anyone here anything yet? today? I mean ANYTHING…

Someone speaks to us in a condascending and cocky tone. Self esteem issues?
