@uchappytrain: What do you mean by that?

I don’t think it’s safe to make any assumptions based off one schools acceptance/rejection…

@ jdom24: You’re absolutely right! Its kind of weird but my little bro applied to UCLA, Cal, UCSD, UCI, and UCSB last year and got accepted to UCLA, Cal, and UCI. BUT he got rejected from SD and SB. I guess no one really knows how the selection really works. He applied as a Psych major with a 3.7+ with TAP(for LA and Cal) and TAG(before they allowed you to only choose one school) to the rest.

Oh okay I just remember someone telling me that uci and ucsd are pretty similar in admission decisions, like they are equally selective. I forgot that uci reads the personal statement though. Not a good thing for me :x lol my personal statement sucked.

Honestly, it sounds like your admission decision comes down to whichever admission officer is reviewing your application. There’s no telling what the outcome will be… lol

Since we’re talking about UCI here, I just wanted to know what are some tips and advice that can help me increase my chances of getting accepted to UCI with a major in political science. Please help me out and share some of your thoughts/opinions. I’ve been very stressed about whether I’ll get accepted or not. I’m planning to transfer fall 2013. So if you have anything that you would like to share, please do so. :)

^ that and write a stellar PS

^Finish all the prereqs, complete IGETC, and (like whythiskolaveri mentioned 111 times) keep your GPA up.

hahahha ^^ yea dont be like mee and mess up one semester because that one semester will bring your gpa down A LOT. all the semesters after that, there was always that burden of knowing i HAD to get A’s or my gpa wouldn’t be competitive against everyone else. its just better to do well from the beginning and not have to come from behind. but if all this didnt happen for me, then i wouldnt have had a topic for my personal statement lol

@ angieyeh: Funny how that is isn’t it? If I didn’t f*** up so badly and do so many drugs back than and basically if all this bad s*** didn’t happen to me I probably wouldn’t have had a very interesting PS. LOL.

@Xoxocece: Like others mentioned, keep your GPA up, IGETC, as many prereqs as you can and finish your required english and math ASAP. It looks like someone in a thread for one of the other UCs got rejected with a 3.9 or something, non impacted major too. Speculation is that their math and english requirement is still IP this semester. So you want to get that out of the way first. But these really are just things you should have been doing all along so they’re not really tips I guess. But with the CSU freeze for 2013 transfers it looks like many transfers are going to flock to the UCs. That means it’s going to be super competitive. My sister is transferring next year too.

@upandawaytoUC
The notion of a solitary biased admissions officer rejecting you is a fallacious one. Most of the UCs have multiple evaluators look at your application and in the event that they come to conflicting conclusions about your acceptance, your application gets reviewed again by a committee. So it isn’t just one person that decides your fate; if you get rejected it’s already after a number of people have looked at your application and felt you weren’t prepared to transfer there.

UCI Login page going SOOOOOOO SLOOOOOOOOW D:

So we can sort of give an estimated guess that if decisions for UCI dont come out this Friday; we are more than likely looking at Mid-April and beyond?

@ Pavin: I hope there will be some decisions on Monday the 2nd and THAN mid april. Looks like LOTS of people have not received a decision yet so I hope they do it in two batches =]

I remember someone saying 3/29/2011 was when the 2nd batch came out. I hope it’s same for this year.

zotportal tripping, but i can log-in.

wow its going super slow; does anyone know if they’ve finished up freshman apps?

^ Freshman rejections will probably start coming out tomorrow/Saturday, then they’ll be done with freshman.

^^ I would assume that freshmen decisions would be done by April 1st.
