Official UCI Transfer admittance Thread

Im in at UCLA and UCSB, but I’m still awaiting my acceptance to UCI…If I get into UCI its gonna be tough picking between them and UCLA.

@dancemasterv I’m PBS too but no decision yet… What’s your gpa?

hi guys i am still waiting…saw a lot of you guys get accepted today, kind worried. My cc gpa is 3.58, uc gpa is 3.45(i think). I applied Business Administration. What is my chance to get in?
BTW I am international student. I finished all the IGETC, all required classes have A, only one B I think. I got an email says i need update my winter grade early this month. by the time i got the email, the winter grade was not out yet, so replied the request with the date i would get the grade(I called them, and this was what they told me to do). I got an an confirmation email.
by the time i got the winter grade, i updated it again (using the same link in the previous email), never received an confirmation email like the first one did, but the system says successfully updated. so is this normal? maybe i should call them tmr. Got accepted by UCSB, and still waiting for USC.

@daniel your chance is slim for both USC and UCI, but We happened to apply to the same schools, hope the best for both of us. (USC)

@danielxzy Don’t worry too much. Actually, almost same situation here. I got in UCSB, but still waiting for UCI Bus Admin. So you prefer going to UCI rather than UCSB?

Decision: Accepted

Decision Date & Time: 3/23/12

Objective:
UC GPA: 3.76
Major Pre-reqs Completed: all but differential equations and last physics
Intended Major: Aerospace Engineering
TAG?: No
IGETC?: Yes

Thanks Ferrari! The only reason why I am still waiting for UCI is because of its location. Better than UCSB in my opinion. For the USC, I got a chance to know two trustee members. Had a phone interview with one of them. The interview was good, and he was impressed by my business idea. I do not know if this is going to help. but I did my best.

I kind like to live near big city, UCI seems to have a better location than UCSB I think. But I have never been there before, so we will see. At least UCSB is beautiful. right? It is a good school, actually it is ranked higher than UCI on usnews this year.

ACCEPTED!

Major: Psychology
Major GPA: 3.33
UC GPA: 3.40
Student Catagory: CCC Transfer
No TAG

So damn excited right now! I had low hopes of getting in due to my stats, and being waitlisted at UCSD today took all my hope away. I thought for sure that meant a rejection from UCI for me! Thought I had my mind set on UCSB but now I need to make a tough decision

Congrats to everyone else and good luck to those still waiting!

OMG Still pending.
I only applied to UCB,UCLA,UCI. Last friday i got rejected from UCLA ECON.
THis is making me sooooooooooooooooo nervous!!!

@hdjang
Dont worry to much. last year my friend got rejected by UCLA nd accepted at Berkley, I hear they care a little bit more about ur essays nd stuff like that. nd because you had the gumption to only apply to those three, I’d say ur at the very least in at UCI

@jjang

if you apply to UCI as bus admin major then good luck lol. Their standard almost near cal.

@Ferrari4XD
I applied to ECON with 3.9gpa.

@earell92
Thank you for saying that. I should just think positively and wait instead of checking UCInet like every 30mins.

I have a question about IGETC that is very crucial to my upcoming decisions! In Area 5 of the IGETC form (for cypress college students) or the physical and biological science section of the form, the section states that you must have one course from each the physical and biological sciences and must have ONE laboratory course.

Does this mean that I need ONE laboratory course from BOTH the physical AND biological science sections or just ONE laboratory course TOTAL? For example, if I fulfill the unit requirement completely and have only taken laboratory courses for the physical science section but not the biological science section, does that mean that I fail to fulfill the necessary requirements? Is having just a 3 semester lecture course in the biological sciences section enough considering I have/will fulfill THREE laboratory courses in the physical sciences section?

I can’t believe that I didn’t wonder about this before! This is causing me such a headache… please help me! Do I need at least one laboratory course for BOTH science sections or just one laboratory course for EITHER science section??

@iamsuperangry your first speculation is correct. You only need one lab for one of those two required science classes to fulfill IGETC

@iamsuperangry

Only one class needs a lab. For instance I used Intro to Ecology (no lab) for the biological science req and Intro to Chem (w/ lab) for the physical science req.

Hey guys, I’m also pending for business admin with a 3.7 GPA. Already been accepted to UCSB/UCD. I haven’t seen anyone get accepted for bus admin yet, so maybe they will further review our applications soon?

Accepted!
Political Science / Urban Studies
3.7
IGETC Done
No TAG
1 Pre-Req Missing

Does anyone know what is the process for transfers to take classes during summer session? Can you? Also, do you have to complete all lower-div requirements before taking upper-div classes?

Pfft. Last year when I got accepted into Davis (but got rescinded when I received a D in my only UC transferable math course), I got rejected from Irvine.

What was your gpa and major last yr when you applied?
