They don’t tell you. If you do meet TAG, then they have to admit you regardless what they want to do. If you’re not approved, then obviously you’re just evaluated like a normal applicant.

Out of pure curiosity - why has everyone been so eager to hear back from Irvine? Other than the fact that they’ve been delaying/releasing decisions at irregular intervals… But especially to those who have already been accepted to UCLA/UCSD/UCD/UCSB - why are you anticipating UCI so much? What is so special about the campus?

I can’t speak for everyone but uci is close to my current residence and job, and a pretty good science school.

UCDprincess// since I live in Irvine, my parent kinda wanted to me to go there to save money. However, as soon as I got accepted to UCLA, they told me to just go there since UCLA is a better school than UCI.

Since then, I’m not even checking the portal anymore haha But it’d be good if I’m accepted so that I can maintain my 100% acceptance rate. And there campus isn’t special at all; I’ve been there couple times. But I like OC environment way better than LA.

I personally consider the school because I think it is a good fit for my personality.

^^^ I agree. Everyone has their reasons. I haven’t been admitted but have forgotten about UCI just because I got into LA. I was kind of hoping to live in the Irvine area though, it’s a lot less stressful than living and moving around LA. This guy in my class got accepted to UCI and UCLA, hes a computer science major but is going to attend UCI instead of LA in hopes of being recruited by Blizzard. lol. So it’s not ALWAYS about the school. But in MY case it is =]

isn’t UCI super republican?

@uchappytrain

No. I’m not sure where you heard that from lol, it’s fairly liberal like most UCs (and universities in general). It’s mostly Asian like UCSD, so it’s not as political as other campuses in general.

Excuse my frankness, LAforlife, but who are you? Why and how do you know all of these bits of information? In every thread I visit, it’s like you’re a divine spring of fruitful wisdom and knowledge regarding the inner workings of the UC application process. Any credentials? Sources?

I don’t mean to come off as aggressive and hostile, but you just seem to know the answer to everything, which in turn has made me quite curious.

@uchappytrain

Yes, and the Ron Paul posters currently plastered all over campus are really sad/funny/pathetic.

All UC’s are leaning liberal, except for UCLA. UCLA tends to be more conservative out of the entire UC’s.

@LAlady oh lol. Well I thought it was, bc my friend from highschool currently goes there and they are always posting about the UCI republican club, memes about UCI and republicans, etc. I have nothing against republicans I just really don’t want Romney to win. I <3 planned parenthood.

@heyhihey

lol, I know a lot about UCI and UCLA because I’ve been there many, many times. I also have done a lot of research on transferring and UCs in general becuase I’m paranoid like that. I like it a lot when people give me advice, so I try to do the same for others.

@LAforlife

The reason I’m asking is because I saw someone post earlier that their tag “finally got approved.” However, that person was still awaiting his/her decision, which meant it wasn’t a sign of acceptance.

@UChappytrain. I believe you are talking about a Republican clubs–which every University has. lol.

@lawlking

UCLA is not conservative at all lol, I’ve been there many times. It’s pretty liberal. In fact perhaps only Berkeley, UCSC, and Davis are more liberal.

@uchappytrain

Don’t worry, it’s pretty liberal like all other UCs. Although it may be a bit more moderate than the others like UCSD.

@givemegoodnews

Hmmm that’s odd. I’m not sure where they’re getting that from to be honest with you…

@LAforlife. I meant UCLA as tends to have the conservative taste compared to the rest of UC’s. Not saying they are a conservative school

@uchappytrain. UCI has the moderate feel and doesn’t feel that politically active like UC-Davis. There are Democratic, Independent, Republican, and etc. kind of clubs, but Irvine tends to keep it low profile. The City of Irvine is extremely strict with UCI so they don’t do anything to attract attention like what happened in UC-Davis and the pepperspray incident–and its the same reason why UCI doesn’t have the football team because Irvine doesn’t want to deal with problems that come with it.

Well all the best to you guys! I’m from Orange County as well but graduated from UC Davis not too long ago. I have taken many summer session courses at UC Irvine though - it’s a great campus and the surrounding area is beautiful. But somehow I always missed Davis and felt out of place while I took classes in Irvine. I guess we all have our reasons. But nevertheless, I wish you all a successful transfer into UCI or whichever campus you decide to attend - you will be rewarded with an amazing feeling once you finally get to hold that diploma in your hands! :-)

I see. I still think it’s the 3rd or 4th liberal UC though. Westwood is really liberal too. I like it becuase I am as well to a certain extent. :)
