Official UCI Transfer admittance Thread

Meh. This is really starting to bum me out- I transferred to UCSB last year but am trying to transfer to UCI for my last year to be closer to my family; I wish I knew the answer already so I could begin discussing whether I am going to move back down or not :(

JUST A FEW MORE DAYS!

I’m also trying to transfer to UCI from SB for my last year. It’s such a painful wait haha

I’m so annoyed already… Sometimes i think it could be at anytime, but it’s not…

@alexajam @mikksmix Just out of curiosity why are you trying to leave ucsb? i got in there too, but i dont think im going to go there lol. Sorry for being off topic to those who make a deal out of people being off topic

Hey guys. I need help, why should I choose UCI over UCD. UCD has the better program, but that scene is too familliar and is about 1.5hr from home. What other reasons are there to go to UCI that I may not know about?

@domystud89 Well not necessarily. Are you meaning you are not a business major? Many other people from other majors are still being accepted as well, I’m just saying that people who are business majors will probably find out in a batch and possibly at the end.

Accepted to UCD with a TAG and a 3.48 GPA for a political science major. Should this be good enough to get into UCI? Also, I don’t know which school to choose (assuming I get into UCI) any help on what school to choose? I’d like to get out of NorCal, but that’s the only thing steering me in UCI’s direction, really.

@domystud89

I’ve decided that I’m going SIR to UCLA. They have a really good History program and I live in LA county, so I really like Los Angeles. It’s hard to turn down Irvine, but I’ve been to UCLA many times and really like the campus and student body. UCI is great and so is the surrounding area where there is so much to do. I’m sure I’ll make a trip down every now and then though. :D

@TaLLLuDWiG718

You should really visit the campus. You’ll get a great feel for the school and campus.

TaLLL, I been to UCDavis many times, and I personally feel the city itself has nothing. I’m not too sure about the programs, but I would pick UCI in terms of location.

You guys already SIRed one other university even though you are still waiting for UCI?
Should we SIR before the end of April?

I thought the deadline to SIR was June 1st…

@IAmSoCal I do like UCI’s location, but should I really choose UCI over UCD because of it?

TaLLL, depends how you feel, really. I know quite a few people where location matters, and it makes the college experience better. I mean, you don’t want to go to a school where you want to go home everyday. I say, if UCD’s program is not much better than UCI’s for your major, then go UCI since the location would be a plus.

TaLL// I live in Irvine, and I literally love the city. However, I wanted to experience the city life before I get too old, which is why I’m leaning towards UCLA.

But OC has everything you need. And if you want the city experience, all you gotta do is take 405N and drive for like an hour (w/o traffic)

And location matters for me too. Even if I get accepted to Berkeley, which is an amazing university, I’ll still choose UCLA, because of its environment. (I’ve been to both universities, enjoyed Westwood better)

Also, if UCD’s program is way better than UCI’s, then I’d go to UCD. But if it’s not, I’d go to UCI. Good school, fantastic location!

@gametime5 i’m not a business major, i’m applying for psychology. i saw that few days ago many people from psychology & social behavior got accepted. however, Irvine offered 2 different type of psych. (correct me if i’m wrong) :)

@LAforlife good for you man, UCLA is my dream school. Nevertheless, my GPA drop a lot because i got C for the last two English’s classes, thus, i applied to UCI. wish u all d best dude :)

@domystud89

Sorry to hear about your GPA man, I’m sure you’ll be ok though. I really hope you get into UCI, it truly is a great university in a great location–there is so much to do in Orange County and LA is less than hour drive away. I wish you the best too! :)

@domystud89 I’m a business/economics major, so I don’t know much about UCI’s Psych department, but from what I have seen on this forum, there is two different ones so I believe you are correct ;)

there’s psych and then there’s psych and social behavior…i wonder which is more impacted if impacted at all

@LAforlife thanks man. it just so hard for international student to learn new language within 3 years in USA, so much pressure. LOL.

@gametime5 do not worry man. i don’t know if it gonna be the same, my buddy he got 2.8 GPA and accepted in Irvine, but it was 2 years ago >.<

@la42692 from my observation since many people got accepted as psych & social behavior - i think this is more impacted. also compare to psych major, psych & social does not need a lot of requirement (major pre-req.)
