[/ul]Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: Great extracurriculars and high GPA.
[] Weaknesses: Low test scores
[] Why you think you were accepted: I had strong extracurriculars that related to my major (Materials Science and Engineering). I think HSSEAS admissions liked my involvement in Solar Cup and Science Olympiad. Being an Eagle Scout helped with general admissions.
[] Where else were you accepted: UCR, UCSD, Stevens Institute of Technology, Lafayette College

[/ul]General Comments:
If you have low test scores, don’t be discouraged. One of my friends got in with a 1730 for Political Science. Just make sure that you keep up the good grades and get involved in clubs that correlate to your major. I suggest not spreading yourselves thin with a multitude of unrelated clubs. Most importantly, don’t stress about the college application process. Take the time to enjoy your senior year.

Nocensure you say you are likely accepted into Stanford? Did u get in? From my experience I’ve heard noones a “likely” for Stanford and co, regardless of how awesome your stats are

Dude, he got a likely letter from stanford. That means he got accepted, and stanford is especially eager to have him. Likely letters only go to the top applicants in the admissions pool. He isn’t estimating his chances. :stuck_out_tongue: But thats okay, I understand why you misunderstood. :)

Stanford don’t give out likely letters buddy, calm down I don’t see why your getting worked about something months old

UCLA vs Stanford, which is better, which would you go?

just curious, :)

Lol i’m not getting worked up but i apologize if it seemed like that
haha no i just came across this thread and i saw your comment and i just wanted to defend that guy :stuck_out_tongue:
Oh but i don’t mean to be naggy, but stanford does hand out likely letters  [Stanford Daily | Some applicants told of “likely” admission](http://www.stanforddaily.com/2010/03/29/some-applicants-told-of-likely-admission/)

Hmm I personally would prefer Stanford just because I love the Bay Area and I’ve actually visited the school, but I’ve never been to UCLA, so I wouldn’t know. But UCLA is also a fine school, even if it isn’t as prestigious as Stanford. But u know, UCLA is apparently the most popular university in America by the number of applicants so that definitely says something. :)

I think one of the best things UCLA has over Stanford though is the social atmosphere. My friends at Stanford say that they always feel the competitive and academic atmosphere, but at UCLA, it’s so social and lively that even though academics are clearly important, you don’t feel the pressure as much, which for me was something I value a lot more. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying Stanford is a socially dead school. I mean, it’s its own city. But there’s just so much more at UCLA. If only it had an endowment the size of Stanford’s…

thanks for those sharing,

does those rich only pick Stanford over public?
