Official UCLA appeal roll call & responses

nothing for me either. hopefully tomorrow is the day…

the funny thing is. i snet the letter of recommendation my teacher wrote for berkeley to UCLA. i didn’t realize taht until i mailed the envelop. so it would be really ironic if they actually admitted me. cuz the letter of rec says berkeley all over.

haha that sucks zhuqi. I was worried about that too, so I double checked to make sure I didn’t mix them up.

Sigh no word for me either.

Guess tomorrow is judgement day. Will be exactly two weeks after I sent the appeal in, I guess UCLA did technically say it can take up to three weeks. Hopefully that won’t be the case.

Haaa it can take up to 40 days, apparently

In response to your recent appeal regarding our fall 2009 admission decision, we have carefully reviewed your application again. We are sorry to inform you that the initial decision stands.

UCLA continues to experience increased interest from qualified transfer students. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate all who wish to attend. We recognize that your accomplishments may assure you a place at another outstanding university. The competitive admission process at UCLA forces us to turn away so many gifted students that we know will succeed at other colleges and universities.

Thank you for your continued interest in UCLA. We wish you success in your academic endeavors.

thank god cal accept me on appeal. phewww

congrats on cal! what are your stats?

@zhuqi

sorry about UCLA, but congratulations on Cal. Maybe it was the rec letter? Either way, you’re in a great school.

So I called some UCs today because I’ve been feeling nervous.

First, UCSB had a yield increase of 1.5% for transfers this year. This, in numbers, according to the admissions adviser Marcia Campbell, means another 150-200 students will be admitted based on appeals… for UCSB.

So I asked if this applied to all UC campuses, and Marcia said NO, UCSD had a yield decrease this year, and all the UCs are finding out about any new yield changes in current months.

So I called UCLA, and the admissions advisor there was very nice, she said there was almost no change in UCLA’s yield… But she alluded to it being higher this year…

Also, she (being helpful) tried to contact my application evaluator to ask why it’s taking so long to hear back, but s/he was on VACATION. So my evaluator is on vacation.

@vyruz

Have you heard anything? Chances are we share the same evaluator.

I haven’t heard back. I need to hear back so I can get on with my life.

i just checked right now , i was busy at work…

still nothing. Waiting and Waiting… maybe my Evaluator is the same as yours and he/she is on vacation

damn, you guys must be going through hell right now. best of luck guys.

@njoy

my appeal letter for berkeley was kickass tho.

guys have a question

the status changed today but neither i’m admitted nor i’m rejected
they just said “we are unable to provide your decision information online. A letter indicating your decision was mailed to you on the date indicated above.”

did anyone get something like mine ?
does anyone know what is this about?
oh… this makes me way more nervous…

I sent mine on may 14th
I’m an intl’ student

what do you guys think?

oh i just tried ursa it works!!!
but i’m not sure why they can’t give me the decision online…
maybe a quater later? or a different major?

@goldtree

I think earlier in this forum someone receieved the same thing, it was ucla saying they would be accepted a year from now for sure, but not fall 2009

wow… a year from now? I don’t know if i want to go to UCLA then…I submitted SIR to UCSD for fall 2009…and wanna go for a MBA degree after. but i need more time to prepare the tuition fee. sigh… i dun know where to go if that is ucla’s decision.

The other student with the same situation mentioned he would go to ucsc for a year then to UCLA for his senior year. The same
may work for you… Just wait, it’s not an outright rejection at least.

i’ve never heard of being accepted a year later. LOL. jink are you making this up…
