Ah I’m sorry to hear that peppamint!! UCI’s a great school too!

Gdelgado: CONGRATS! I can’t believe they let you take it in the summer wowowww… i’m happy for you nonetheless!

@ peppamintt
Hopefully you get in at UCSB in then!!! Good luck to you!!!

peppamintt, did they update your appeal status?

I’m sorry to hear that and good luck to you… (I may attend UCI if my appeal failed)

I turned my appeal in on May 4th, still no update on my status…

Hopefully I could know the result soon so that I can submit my SIR&transcripts and enjoy my summer

By the way, any Business Econ appeals here?

oh btw: I actually don’t have my appeals letter anymore. I lost it when I reformatted my computer (had to reformat the entire harddrive)… SORRY! I too was looking for it when I got my appeals decision because I wanted to re-read it and see how good it was LOL. sorry! basically the format was: 1st paragraph= please reconsider my app, blahblah… i forgot to include my high school course on my app… UCLA never sent me any e-mails asking for it/ nor did they respond to my e-mails (included 3 emails I sent in March), then i wrote 2nd paragraph on family issues and how it affected my work performance my first 2 quarters at the college.
Then I wrote a paragraph on how much I wanted to go to UCLA (it was my dream school blahblahblah)
All of this was in much more formal writing obviously lol.
and it all fit onto a page (single-spaced) surprisingly.

Gdelgado: I’m just curious… but I noticed that you wrote you were in TAP??? if you were, did you write a 2nd choice major? I can’t believe they rejected you the first time-around… since I think a 3.5 with TAP is a pretty sure-acceptance and your EC’s are really great too. haha they seriously screwed up when they rejected you… just like they screwed up on mine ;)

yeah i had a second choice major: international development studies. But the main thing with my application was that I was missing a prereq. Yeah, I’m pretty stoked, I was super disappointed to be rejected.

Yeah. I was too! but oh well… we’re now* bruins!
GO BRUINS!!!

Hey guys this is my first time in this forum, but I’ve been lurking around trying to become oriented on expected hearback dates.

I’m going too crazy just lurking, I want to know what you guys think about my situation.

I was denied admission as a transfer to UCLA for philosophy. UCLA accepts 67% of its applicants for this major. I have a decent gpa 3.4, and have really cool extra curriculars (building playgrounds for children in czech repub, student senate, philosophy internship with SBCC’s dean of philosophy, etc…).

Turns out I was rejected because I had 54/60 required UC credits. Granted I graduated hs in dec 2007 and have gotten all my college units since then, I’m 18. I graduated in Japan in the middle of my senior year so it was hard to apply traditionally to 4 years, so I went to california cc’s. I appealed and am taking two 3 unit semester courses this summer. I still however, haven’t heard back from UCLA, and it seems everyone else has.

My Sat was 1910, my essays were good, and I feel like I’m a pretty cool candidate. (I went to high school in Los Angeles, Italy, and Japan, and have also lived in Turkey, Germany, South Korea, and Arizona.)

I know my GPA is lackluster, but a buddy of mine got into UCLA for Phil with a 3.2 gpa (infuriated me).

SO MY QUESTION IS WHY HAVEN’T I HEARD BACK??? I sent in my appeal April 25th, 2009. Arghhh it’s still pending on the decision site, and URSA doesn’t offer me anything.

^
Again, these decisions are released on a rolling basis.

Call admissions and ask if your decision is ready or not!

I wish you the best of luck! && don’t compare yourself to your friend, they might have had something admissions thought would be beneficial for UCLA.

Also, congratulations to the few of you who got good results, and peppamint, I’m really sorry about your situation. I saw you had another thread on College Confidential, and really think you deserved to be admitted.

@sakurax

You’re right, it’s unfair to compare so I shouldn’t. He’s a really smart guy and I think he deserved it. I’m rooming with him next year in LA regardless, even if I’m at SMC. Also, I called today I’m still under review. I was thinking maybe they had reached their yield for Philosophy, and were waiting to see what transfers declined their admission offer, so I’d hear back after the June 1st deadline? But now all you guys are at least hearing back…
