Official UCR Fall 2014 Transfer Thread

@moniiique, if it make you feel better, I’m actually 25. So yeah I’m starting very old as well.

But don’t worry about it. It’s matter of getting there instead of speed or pace. I’m glad I’m starting now because I’m wiser and more knowledgeable on what I want within university. No worries about parties or relationship because to me, that’s irrelevant. :)

@bjt223 i couldn’t have said it better myself! I’m not worried that I’m starting later in life, hell it took 4 years for me to get an AA, I’m more motivated than ever to finish strong. It’s just since I’m living on campus I didn’t want to live with all 19 year olds, nothing is wrong with that but were probably in different stages of life, but I’m gonna assume I’ll get at least 21 years olds in my room. (:

I am 23 years old. Does anybody know if transfer students have to send in their high school transcripts?

We are all young! But I’m with you! I’m going in more mature and focus after going to cc. I don’t think you have to send your high school transcripts only cc. @hvidales‌

FYI anyone who applied for housing… I called this morning to get a housing contract for Glen Mor and what I was told is there are no more 2Bed/2Bath and only a “few” 4b/2ba rooms. Idk what they mean by a few but Eve helped me and she was super nice and explained everything to me. I would call soon if you can pay the $200 deposit within 72 hours.

@moniiique are we only applicable for glen mor? I applied for la plaza…

Is the housing contract separate from the apartment application??? I filled out the apartment application weeks ago… but now I see this ‘housing contract’ thing…

@moniiique Man I applied housing few weeks ago and found out that there are no transfer hall for dorms. Now, I’m trying to switch my dorm to apartment. If you say it’s true, well then I’m screw. No offense, but I don’t want to live with 18 years old. haha.

Just wondering, what is your guys choice of apartments?

@JIMMYofW‌ No transfers can live in every housing complex offered, except the family housing… unless you have a family. Glen Mor is just the newest one on campus so I guess its pretty popular. No the housing/apartment app should be the same thing. I would call the office and see if you can get someone to send you a contract quicker.

@bjt223‌ technically they have a transfer hall but its in the dorms… but yuck! haha. I refuse to live in a dorm, personally. Like I said above call the housing office they are pretty helpful. I know I felt better after I paid my deposit!

I picked Glen Mor because it was a stipulation of getting my financial aid… but it does look very nice.

@Jpare003‌ do you remember your unit number? I think they gave me an old one ):

@moniiique Thanks. What was your other two choice?

@bjt223 i picked 2b/1ba at glen mor, then 4b/2ba at glen mor, then a 2b/2ba at falkirk.

Is Bannockburn really as bad as Ive read?

I called and received a contract for a 4 bedroom/2 bath at glen mors. I’d preferably do glen mors just because its new and comes with a few options like dining dollars or upgrade for meals per quarter and dining dollars. And besides, it’s the only one available. There a few spots left, and I’m doing the deposit. I think I’m going to stick with UCR lol. I’m convinced. I’m a pre med major, and UCR’s med school accepts half of the applicants who were originally attending UCR’S undergrad. @moniiique‌

Congrats @drew26 and @moniiique‌ for your contact guys and for being my neighbors  lol
@JIMMYofW‌ yes they’re two different things. Once you have an application give them a call to make sure they take you into account.

Oh a @moniiique‌ mine says:
ACADEMIC YEAR COMMUNITY STYLE OCCUPANCY TYPE APARTMENT #
14-15 Glen Mor 2 Bedroom 1 Bath Single M401 - 1 A

@drew26‌ Nice, what building are you in? I like the dining dollar thing as well, when i am super broke i know i can eat something lol. After setting all this up I can’t imagine switching to go to UCI if they admit me, but I can never say never haha. I think everything worked out the way its supposed to for you… if your planning on going to med school I think UCR is the place for you.

@jpare003 i think were gonna have to have a college confidential meet up when we all start school, you guys have kept me sane during this waiting period haha! Yeah, I’m pretty sure I got an original glen mor building… A202-1A, I’m going to campus on thursday so I will invetigate then haha.

D310 - 1 A is where I’m at! But I really want the two bedroom :frowning: and yea same here! I’m already going through so much here at UCR, that I wish I could get rejected by UCI so that I wouldn’t have to choose between the two when that time comes. LOL. I wanted UCI so bad but at this point I really don’t care hahaha!! And then again it all depends on how much each school offers me soo hopefully its UCR so I’m not so indecisive. @moniiique‌ and thanks dude see you then ! @Jpare003

@drew26 @moniiique Nice. I’m waiting for my contract. I can’t believe you guys already got it.

@drew26 honestly any UC is better than no UC is how I see it before I got in I was going to a CSU that nobody really knew about. So I will take UCR and embrace it with wide open arms haha. UCI was always a dream but I can’t cry over what I never had… And true financial aid is a deal breaker!!!

@bjt223‌ when I called it was 8am and I didn’t get an email until 3pm so maybe it takes a while for some more than others.
