The UCSB transfer thread for 2013 has been awesome for me. I got a lot of help and advice and it has been a really good place to go when I felt like I needed some answers to things on my mind about UCSB, TAG'ing, UC's in general, listening to people's experience with admissions and once enrolled and its good to have just another person/ other people who have gone through the process and learning from them about UC Santa Barbara and everything that goes with it.

I know that some people get anxious about transferring and want to get ahead of the process and know everything they possibly can about it when the time comes for TAG applications or full applications which starts September 1st, only a little over a month away! Ask anything on your mind here about transferring to the University of California Santa Barbara.

Best of luck to everyone and I hope anyone wanting/hoping to transfer to UCSB on here gets in!!!

Omg thank you soooo much for starting this thread I thought it’d take forever!! I’m hoping to transfer there this year from my CCC with a TAG fingers crossed! :)

Thanks for starting this thread
Well i’m planning on applying this fall and i’m seriously lost.
I want to go to UCSB for Political Science, and i will have my math requirement done by fall. Is that too late? Will they automatically reject me for that?

Also, i had a rough semester last spring, and got a C in a major pre-req…my GPA dropped to 3.3.
Do i still have a chance of getting in? My grades were nearly all A’s for Fall, but in Spring my GPA plummetted.
Any advice? And did TAG really help out a lot in getting accepted?

You’ll be fine completing the math requirement during Fall. The average GPA for political science in 2011 was 3.39, so I would try to get at least a 3.5. Try to get straight A’s during Fall and TAG.

I’m applying here without TAG as a sociology major. 3.79 GPA - I need to get all A’s this semester just to get a 3.80, ughh! Haha.

@UCgirl714 the TAG application is separate from the admissions application - so you’ll only need to turn in your personal statement during the admissions application in the November filing period :)

Sociology haha but I eventually am going into Law I’d like to go to UCLA or UCB but more than likely I will end up going to UCSB because of financial reasons as well as my first couple semesters I didn’t take college seriously and got just C’s :/.

The past 3 semesters I’ve got all A’s, one P (non-GPA effecting), and one B and I only have a 3.15 GPA. My GPA was a solid 2.0 last year so yeaaaa.

But by the end of Fall I’m expecting it to get up to about a 3.3 or 3.28 and then I will TAG into UCSB and TAP to the other Schools but just from what I’ve heard I’m gunna hope for the best but expect the worse not to get my hopes up or anything and end up being disappointed.

So yup haha

No prob man I really think you’ll get in to UCB though for Soc with a 3.8.

UCSB will be my safety school also, in case I don’t get into Cal. Honestly, I think that of all the UC campuses, UCSB has the most challenging prerequisite: social skills!!! I can’t even chug a beer like those professional drinkers do in 2 or 3 gulps. I wish I could do that.
