I TAGed ucsb and updated my TAU the first day, but my decision is pending. Hopefully I’ll find out soon.

I wonder if UCSB gets over 9000 people wanting to major in Sociology/Psych/other soft (I mean social) sciences, and that’s why some of you with good stats got rejected, and some of the Econ/Math/Acct guys got in with lower GPAs and such. hm

@TonyStark93 That’s what I’m wondering, lol. I guess Economics and Accounting is not impacted. Either that or they really looked into my application and saw my major GPA and 4 year stay in CC w/o missing a semester, haha. Also had 1 W. Still, I’m just shocked as you are.

@WhiteTiger84 Thanks, I filed it on the 29th.

@sega18 That definitely has to be the case.

Accepted :)

Major: Psych
GPA: 3.86
TAG: No
Igetc- Completed
Pre-reqs- Completed

Kind of lame they don’t offer a financial aid package until you SIR but the calculator is useful.

Much yay. Congrats to everyone else

Do any of u guys know where I can send in an email to ask why I have been rejected?
I’d like to know their reasons for rejection.

@shinekpk

It’s probably because you had math IP.

From what I’ve been reading and looking at this past year on this forum, UCSB is really strict with their English/Math requirements prior to applying.

Accepted :)

UC GPA: 3.3
Major Pre-reqs:
Intended Major: English
TAG?: No
IGETC?: Yes

Extracurriculars (clubs, leadership, volunteer, work): Alpha Iota honor society, volunteer, did clubs in high school
Additional Details: 3 W’s, 2 of which I got after missing the drop date
Applied for Financial Aid?: Yes
State (if domestic applicant): CA
Ethnicity: Filipino
Gender: Female

Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected (strengths/weaknesses): I’m not sure lol hope it’s not a mistake.

Maybe my essay and English major grades made up for my low overall GPA (former Bio major)

@Shinekpk i think you can call and ask. If they say its because you are taking math in spring you can appeal once u pass the class

I’m transferring from San Diego Mesa Community College.

Here is a list if top ten feeder community colleges to the UCs, plus stats re number of acceptance per each CC in the state. I had another list that broke it down further, with over 400 Santa Monica College transfers getting into UCLA, about the same number getting into UCSB from City College SB, and hundreds getting into all the top UCs from DeAnza College. By comparison, my daughter’s CC, College of San Mateo, showed only 27 getting admitted to UCLA (can’t recall what UCSB count was). It seems that the CC you attended plays a huge huge part.

I noticed someone got accepted to UCSB, Comm major (impacted), TAG, with a 3.4. My daughter, same major, TAG, 4.0., still pending.

I realize it is still early in the game but it would be if vital interest to know what CC everyone attended.

Question: Which school is harder to get into? UC Davis, UC Irvine, or UC Santa Barbara? Does anyone have link to transfer admission rate of these schools?

@flinstone According to ranking, it’s UCSB.

Interesting that sociology got some rejections as I thought Sociology was never impacted. Of course, another issue could be something missing in application that you didn’t know was missing. OR THE WRONG CC!! :((

@l2equiem do you have a source for the ranking?
