Buy some beer and start practicing. lol honestly, you don’t have to engage in all that drinking.

What kind of math major would I be if I didn’t drink?

I have a question, since I went to 4 different colleges, 3 CC’s, 1 CSU, when should I get the transcripts from them???

Since UC applications start October 1st???

And for UCSB TAG, can anyone walk me through it? Are we going to have to send in transcripts later or everything we’ve done up to now???

Btw I have a 3.58 GPA and I’m an Econ/Accounting major.

Do I have a chance to get accepted for UC TAG?

TonyStark93,

You will have to send the transcripts after Spring 2014 grades are posted. Yes, they require transcripts from all of the institutions that you have attended.
This year the deadline was July 15.
TAG app is pretty straightforward, just don’t miss any deadlines.
You should review TAG requirements with your school’s transfer counselor, to make sure that it’s all in order.

Kazyaa: What is that the deadline for?

And transcripts don’t have to be sent until when for 2014 application for admission to UCSB?

And I’m not sure if you know about this or not but is there a difference in financial aid received whether you get in through TAG or Normal Admission?

Financial aid is the same. It shouldn’t change because you have a tag.

Shouldn’t or doesn’t? lol

Doesn’t. 10char

Are there additional grants not listed on the UCSB website that are available to be disbursed through the UCSB financial aid package or not?

Question: Okay so lets say I TAG to UCSB, with the TAG you are guaranteed admission to the school, not the major so what is needed from there??

Matt, if you are admitted as a pre-major, you will most likely have to complete 1-2 special courses with a B or better to be admitted as a full major.

But regardless they have to accept you as a pre-major or a full major, they can’t just say oh well you got in but your major and pre major are full so do something else, take GE.

And if I’m admitted as a pre-major I automatically matriculate to full major standing because by the time get there I will have completed IGETC as well as all pre-major requirements for my major at UCSB.

Hey guys! Also a UCSB future transfer with hopeful TAG acceptance. However, Im also applying to UCSD, UCD, UCSC, UCLA and my top choice UC Berkeley. Could you guys give me your opinion on my chances of getting into any of these? I only need to take stats this spring and a couple prerequisites and then i’m done. (I heard through forums that to apply for TAG, you need to have completed Statistics FALL semester of transfer. Is this true?)

Major: English B.A
CC GPA: 3.6

Prerequisites: 1 out of 2

IGETC: YES

Extracurricular: AA in Acting, AA in Theater design. Been to Mexico with church program twice. Six years of journalism experience, 3 in H.S and 3 at the CC level. Three articles published for an online website called Thought Catalog. Plenty of experience writing.

What are my chances?

@matt Yes, of course. Unless you’re a pre-major and don’t meet the requirements in order to become a full major. Then they’ll force you to switch majors. I’m not sure how it is for sociology, but econ is the only major I know that you must pass econ 1a at UCSB with a B or higher in order to achieve full major status. If you have all the prerequisites and IGETC done for soc, then you’re good to go, man!

@Bryan330 I think you have a good shot. I suggest you finish your prereqs as soon as you can and try to get at least a 3.7 by the end of fall/winter for Berkeley. Out of all your extracurriculars, the journalism one is the most interesting one. The others are really irrelevant to your major. So talk about your journalism experience in the personal statements :D

Hopefully, we can both get into Berkeley for Fall 2014. Lol

@ocnative Thanks! Good luck to you as well, Berkeley is tough, but they really are looking for solid GPAs and an interesting story! But is it true that you must have the UC transferable math course completed by Fall 2013 if you want to be eligible for TAG? I will not be able to take that until Spring 2014 unfortunately. Does this mean I won’t qualify for TAG?

@Bryan330, the transfer agreement states you must have your transferable math done by fall before you transfer. However, i have a friend who was initially rejected through the normal admission process but petitioned and got accepted as a pre-major (sociology). So your fortune may not be dim my man.

Im TAG’n for fall '14, Cypress College transfer.
Geography/GIS major, current gpa: 3.29 with no way of it sliding downhill-- yes im an underachiever but im cognizant of it.
Only three UC’s offer this major (LA, CAL, SB) and Cal is my first choice but thats a stretch given my gpa. SB is top of of the line in GIS, even ahead of LA, so cant lose there.
SB is also contextually ideal since a current professor is in progress of attaining his PhD from SDST/UCSB in geography and i get plenty of guidance and insight. So im looking forward to chat’n with some potential transfer gaucho’s since we might be there this season next year.
I’ve studied the SB TAG religiously this past summer since i actually vacationed, so lets be kindred spirits if you will.

ps, is the 330 a reference to 3 series?

Major: Financial Mathematics & Statistics
Current CC GPA: 3.05
Excepted CC GPA after Fall Semester: 3.35

Prerequisites: most of them…

IGETC: By end of Spring

This will be my 4th year a my CC so by the time I transfer I will have 100+ units probably… Took me a while to figure what I wanted to do and also had family hardship for a couple years… Last two semesters my GPA has been a 3.84 and I am expecting the same or better for my fall semester. What do you think guys?

Also my extracurricular/job: 4 years of working fulltime job. Last two years held a corporate mortgage banking job with Bank of America.

I think I’m gonna apply for TAG for UCSB for fall 2014. However, I won’t be done with 2 English courses requirement by the end of this semester. I just completed one of them on Spring and I’m not taking the other this semester.

So if I applied, Do I still have a chance or just automatically rejected? Since I have a really strong GPA and completed all requirement and recommended courses for my major by the end of Spring 2014.

Major: Chemical Engineering
GPA: almost 4.0 (completed 50 transferrable UC courses by the end of this semester. All of them are core courses. No GE)
Volunteer: ~30 hours
Work: Chem Tutor and stockroom
Activity: almost nothing
Award: Almost nothing

Does anyone know someone who got admitted although they hadn’t completed their 2 English courses

Thanks!

@DaBaDee Your TAG will definitely be reject because they require the English course to be completed by Fall. But given your GPA, I say you have a great shot of being admitted.
