Does everyone get invited to the reception? I got my invitation in mid february and was confident that I was admitted. Sure enough, I got in. Pre-biology (physiology, once I do all the pre-recs). Anyway, I’m so excited. Still waiting for UCLA, UCB, Dartmouth, and Georgetown. But I’m pretty sure I’ll be at UCSB next year, it’s my number one!

The only people that got invited to the reception are the top applicants. I’m doing pre-biology, too! Yeah!!

Has anyone received an acceptance package in the mail yet?

I got the Chancellor’s Reception invitation, along with 3 varsity sports, team captain, 7 AP’s, and a 3.9 GPA.
Does anyone know if they send out formal acceptance letters or is it just online?

This is to all entering freshman and high school students. GPA and Test scores are important, but they are not the only thing college admissions look at now. Essays and extra-curricular activities are very important also. They don’t just want a student that will bury themselves in books all the time and not get out there and make their mark.

@Determined6, they send you a formal acceptance letter by snail mail along with a packet of other papers regarding what to expect at UCSB and stuff.

I feel like anyone lower than a 1800 SAT got rejected.

I don’t think that is the case. I was admitted with a 1530 SAT, and a 3.85 UC GPA.

@kmoran23 what is your major?

I got in pre biology with a 3.5 GPA and 1700 sat

Decision: Accepted
Major: Physics

Objective:[ul]
[] SAT I (breakdown): 1970, Writing:630 CR:560 Math: 780
[] SAT II: Math II: 800 Physics:780 Chinese: 800
[] UC GPA: 3.49?? this might be wrong, but because i moved from Taiwan and i actually repeated my junior year while i was supposed to be a senior(otherwise i wouldn’t have time to apply to colleges) So i had to include my crappy junior year grades I got in Taiwan. Basically I have ‘two junior years’ and one of them has couples of C’s.
