Official UCSC Transfer 2012 Decisions

Hmmm I wonder what the laggage is about? Anyone got any theories as to why TAG students haven’t heard back yet? Hmmmm.

Ehh oh well I suppose. They’ve gotta post the decisions some time. In the mean time I’ll just focus on acing my Spanish exam tomorrow! Adios amigos. Buena suerte!
:)

@Rob- Who knows. They were kind of sporadic releasing their decisions, or so it seems. We’ll hear, don’t worry. I just wonder how often they’re going to release their decisions! Anywho, studying for your test is a great way to take your mind off of things. I was doing the same thing earlier, but for my math exam coming up.

Buenos suerte!

@kingdomsroa38- I was talking about us people with TAG, it means our TAG was probably broken in some way. For people with no TAG there is no reason to be alarmed, you guys still have a shot. I was speaking about people with TAG such as myself. It explicitly said people with approved TAGs were admitted on the 17th.

by chance did you guys apply to baskin? since i know alot of bio/eng/compsci people got accepted through tag, but got denied to baskin. so basically you can attend the school but the major is still up in the air.

my friend didn’t TAG to UCSD but he just put a check next to UCSD TAG in the UC application lol. Do you guys think it’s possible he might get in as a TAG admit? He said the UCs don’t even check if you submitted the TAG application because it isn’t linked to our Uc applications

@Based- No no, I got you. I’m just thinking that not ALL tag students were admitted on March 17th. They never explicitly stated “All TAG approved students”, just “tag approved students”…You know? I can’t imagine that all of the tag applicants on this thread would’ve broken their TAG agreements…the probability of that is highly unlikely.

It’s all good guys if you are doing a major like Engineering it really does not matter what school you go to, you will get a good job regardless of which school you went to.That is why I am not going to cry if I did not get in…

@Chelz- No way he will be admitted as a TAG student. The UC’s DO look to see if you actually do a TAG- Heck, they’re the ones that approve it! This is why people have their TAG’s rejected later on; Once UC’s find out the grades TAG applicants receive after the TAU, this could either make or break a TAG agreement. Then again, I’m pretty sure UCSD doesn’t even let you know whether or not your TAG is approved until you’re admitted…I don’t understand that.

@jnguyen- I didn’t, but somebody else might have. I applied as a Marine Bio/Bio Major, and as far as I know, that’s not apart of the JBSCOE. But you’re right, I have seen that a lot around CC lately…I wonder why?

@kingdom

yeah that’s basically what I told him and he started saying how UCSD wouldn’t know whether or not he submitted an application if they’re too lazy to decide if a student is qualified or unqualified for their TAG beforehand. He also said the TAG application doesn’t ask for any source of identity besides DOB and name and that they just go along with what you tell them later on in the UC application and check if their GPA is a 3.5 etc instead of trying to search for a TAG application that has his name and DOB or whatever

For what it’s worth, I also got accepted as a Computer Science major on 3/17/2012.

I’m not sure how they handle admissions of course.

@softball - Whoops, my bad dude. Did indeed mean the 17th @ around midnight.

@kingdoms - Maybe Santa Cruz… gotta hear from Berkeley and all the others first, though.

@jnguyen: i got denied by tag as you know, but got admitted to baskin. On my decision accepting page, it shows “Major: Computer Science” :slight_smile: hope that makes you less worried

Whats that baskin thing

@Basedswag
I read that as well. So I’m guessing it’s just what Kingdom said, because we’re all in the same boat.

@Kingdom: Hey bro I just wanted to say thanks for all your insights on this thread! I did TAG and still haven’t heard back and was freaking out a bit but you’re knowledge has put some of my fears to rest

Either way this is going to be my last semester at a CCC! Whether its Cal (first choice), UCSC, UCI, UCR (admitted already) or a Cal State, I HAVE to get out of my CCC or I’ll go crazy.

Hope you all get into your first choice school, but if you don’t just take it on the chin and continue progressing in life! :D

I know this is SO inappropriate for this thread but i was reading up on Denice Denton. TIL kind of thing. And Whoa. It was sad and disturbing. For those serious about UCSC you should know the school’s cultural history (420 celebration and all) but more importantly its social history. Maybe I’m just morbid like that

I think UCSC history is just that: history. It was newly built during some ‘interesting’ times in American History and the student bodies were trying to find their identities. I think it was brought up in a past thread about their banishing of military recruiters. Yes, the recruiters many years ago were driven off the campus by members of the student body, but today veterans still consider UCSC a safe place and I think recruiters are technically welcome on campus, though they may choose not to for one reason or the other. They have been on campus since and aren’t harassed nearly like when they were first ‘kicked off’.

@turtle I think that’s very true about it being a tolerant place. I love history btw and i think a saying like “history is just that: history.” sells the human experience so incredibly short it borders on unwise. I know some people say that you can’t learn from history and I partially agree (see WWI…AND WWII). History doesn’t repeat itself but it defiantly rhymes. I sympathize with activism in the broad sense but researching Denton I was looking at blog posts that were downright cruel to the woman. I don’t think local bloggers should be censored but…come on have at least some decency.

To your point: College campus administration (especially public CA ones) have to walk a tight rope in my opinion. In one sense they owe their very existence to students who may protest but will lose face or even their jobs if they let the democratic process get out of hand

hey guys so im a transfer student from ucsd to ucsc(hopefully)
GPA:3.0
major:anthropology
prerecs: all but one complete(just one for my major)
how much of a chance do you think i have?
