Decision: ACCEPTED!
TAG: No
Major: Sociology
IGETC: Only needed one more class, will be completed after this Spring
GPA: 3.2 something
Pre-Reqs Completed: After this Spring
EC’s: Mediocre.
Essay: I had two professors read them and they both said they were strong.

YAY. My first acceptance, finally. Good luck to everyone else! : )

@AB- I think they email you later on? I’m not sure, didn’t apply there.

@Rob- Marine Bio for UCSC and Bio for UCR. Pre-reqs are a whole different story though. Short and simple, I’m missing a lot of pre-reqs because of the articulation between my CCC and the UC’s. But all of them have completely different pre-reqs! How am I supposed to keep up with that? lol. Anyways, UCSC is my first choice. I just cant wait to hear back. Even though its not the most prestigious of campuses (I don’t care anyways), its a really nice campus and a good fit for me. Where all did you apply and which is your first pick?

On another note, when do you guys all think FinAid will be released? In the next upcoming month, perhaps? Also…I hope the next wave of applications comes out soon! I don’t want to have to wait another two weeks…I’d LOVE to hear before I make a trip up there for Spring Break!

I feel stupid for constantly checking my “portal” because I got accepted a couple hours ago and just got an email letting me know as well! So those of you who haven’t heard back yet, be patient and breathe (: The info will COME TO YOU.

ACCEPTED!
GPA: 3.10
TAG: Yes
IGETC: Will be done by Spring 2012
Major: Molecular, Cellular, Developmental Biology

Also another question, what gpa do we need to maintain to keep our admittance if we’re tag students? Do we have to maintain the 3.0 gpa or a 2.0 gpa that regular admits said they can keep? And if our gpa does fall below a 3.0 gpa, as a tag admit does that mean I will be rescinded? Thanks and congrats to everyone else who got in!

^I would refer to the conditional admittance guidelines laid out in your TAG agreement. I would imagine you would have to maintain a 3.0, but don’t quote me on that. UC’s don’t want to see your grades plummet all of the sudden after you get accepted, otherwise they could rescind for D’s and F’s. Again, I would double check on your TAG agreement but I would definitely shoot for maintaining at least a 3.0 to be on the safe side!

@AB- Oh wow! They actually decided to email students now? What a concept! haha. Thanks for words of wisdom though…I appreciate it!

@kingdomsroa48: Don’t worry, your Christmas will come soon! Any day now =]

Also, I did not hear from SB, Irvine or SD yet =/. Truth be told; SD, Irvine, And LA are the only ones that I actually care about(although I applied to all but Merced). If not, SFSU here I come!

Thanks kingdom, yeah the only reason why im asking this is just in case if my gpa falls slighty below 3.0 (like 2.98) because of classes like Organic Chemistry, would that get me rescinded. I think regular admits have to maintain a 2.0 (?) so I was just wondering which one to go by. But yeah definitely a 3.0 sounds much more realistic for me. Hopefully everything works out in the end.

@Kingdom don’t patronize me geez hah, ugh I only said it because I had asked previously if they were also sending out email notifications and the first batch of people who found out said NO.

@Kingdom: Eeeesh. I know a lot of science majors who’ve had trouble with pre-reqs because our CCC doesn’t have the necessary classes. It’s frustrating, I can imagine And my first choice is Cal, but UCSC is a close second. I REALLY think UCSC is a good fit for me too. I grew up in LA and am used to nothing but concrete, so when I visited UCSC my freshman year in HS I absolutely fell in love. Who knew 6 years later I’d have the opportunity to attend! :)

Decision: ACCEPTED!
TAG: No
Major: Business Management Economics
IGETC: All will be done by end of Spring
GPA: 3.35
Pre-Reqs Completed: Completed
EC’s: Pretty strong, lots of business-related EC’s.
Essay: Pretty strong, had it proof-read quite a few times.

@iDizzle: Well hopefully we’ll both hear back soon!

@Varuno: I could understand that. OChem is no walk in the park! I guess you should just do whatever you can to keep your grades up! Whats your major?

@AB: Haha, I’m just messing with you! And that’s what I was alluding to. I know that nobody in the first batch received an email, so that’s why I was making the joke “What a concept”. Meaning, I guess the UC’s finally figured it out!

@Rob: Awesome! Well if somehow you don’t make it to Cal, UCSC is a good alternative! Not as prestigious, but I think the atmosphere and beauty is totally worth a good experience. And the way I see it, if you plan on getting an advanced degree, undergrad doesn’t really matter anyways, unless your a business major or something.

@Coqueiro: When you log into the portal, click on: Main Menu > Application Status and Info > View Application Status

@Snizzle: Congratulations, and good luck! :)

@kingdomsroa48 - thanks for the info. but should i still be seeing this when i check application status:?

UC Santa Cruz has received your application for fall 2012! As we thoroughly review the thousands of applications we have received, here is some important information for you to know.

It is important that you update any changes to your planned academic schedule at the UC Application Update web site at [University of California - Update transfer application](http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/appupdate) which opens in mid January. At that site you are also required to provide the University with your most recent fall term grades. UC Santa Cruz wants you to provide this information no later than February 15, 2012. Schedule changes and updated grades must always be reported in a timely fashion.

@iDizzle: No no, I mean that we would hear back from the respective UC’s were waiting on. lol. But congratz on your acceptance! I would imagine I would be getting back to people soon…there hasn’t been any word from them in nearly two weeks!

@kingdomsroa48: Oh yeah I really hope so. UCI has been very quiet. Thanks! I’m sure you’ll get something from UCSC soon. Your stats are better than mine =]

hmmm. about housing… My gf is graduating from Art Center this Fall and will be moving with me when I transfer. I’ve seen pictures of UCSC and it looks sooo secluded. How convenient would it be to live off campus(since I will be living with my gf)? It looks like you have to drive through the forest to get there? Has anyone visited the campus before?

UCSC is huge, the entire campus is 6,651 acres!!!

To give you a comparison: The entire Knott’s Berry Farm is only 160 acres
The entire Disneyland resort (parking lot, amusement park, and etc) is only 300 acres

I believe that living off-campus is going to be a long drive…
