For an appeal to have merit, it must present new and compelling academic or personal information that was not included in the original application. New and compelling information is defined as any extraordinary situation or event that was not presented in the original application, but may significantly impact an admissions decision. Such examples may include, but are not limited to: 1) the declining health and/or recent death of a family member; 2) the applicant was the victim of a crime or involved in a tragedy of some type, and the resulting experience adversely impacted his/her academic performance; 3) the applicant was recently displaced or currently faces extraordinary family disintegration; 4) the applicant has a serious health diagnosis and cannot leave the San Diego and/or Imperial County area; 5) the applicant is a recent caregiver for a dependent parent; or, 6) the applicant has information that shows a stronger academic record than reflected in the original application: missing on-time ACT/SAT scores, courses not listed as AP or honors, or additional coursework.

lets go to work.

remember everyone has to call the admission officers to give the merits of your appeal unless it wont count

at 11 now, theyre pushing that deadline too…lol

Anyone calling the admissions office already?

You guys better be on hold already, lol.

I’m sure people are going to be complaining.

actually people keep calling but ucsd keep telling us to call in 30 mins…complete bs

That’s weird because I was able to be transfered to my friend. Well, I guess because she has her own office, but I went through the admissions line.

Oh well.

I called 5 times and there lines are all busy, they said admission is really congusted right now, I dont give a crap though I better get through today

^
Yeah, definitely just keep trying. I had to wait some forty minutes to get past the busy lines at admissions for Cal, you’ll get through!

hey sakurax, hook us up with your friend…maybe she can help us out…

When I call now it says invalid mailbox number, then hangs up on me. Haha, that’s a burn.

hey guys,

in high school i wrote an appeal to UCSD about how my father was hospitalized and lost his job so my grades dropped because i had to work to help my family. so if anyone’s interested, i can PM the appeal to you if you guys need ideas.

btw, i sent my appeal in after the deadline and they still take them, but it just takes longer for them to respond. i also didn’t call them until the day i sent in my appeal (i thought it was optional… hahaa…) and they just said “okay we’ll make a note that you’re sending it in today”

and i also sent in two appeals. the first one was a formal letter and the second was a petition, which i sent about a month after the deadline.

okay i hope that helps somehow… GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!
i hope you guys get in!

^^ did you end up getting in… one thing thats concerning is that they say that they rarely reverse

lol no i didn’t get in.
i THINK appeals are much much harder to reverse for high school students than for transfers.
i believe i read the statistics somewhere although i don’t remember the link…

Students who get in with appeals is ~3%.

any luck getting through anyone?? besides sakurax with her connections…

Alright. So I talked to someone in Admissions and I’m still in shock. Here is what happened: I gave the woman my information and there was at least five or more minutes of silence while she reviewed my records. Then she said, “Um… yeah. It looks as though there was an administrative error on our part.” !!! “I can’t seem to figure out what is missing.”

I briefly mentioned my health issues (which were not mentioned on my file) and she is going to speak with her supervisor and call me back later today.

W T F SERIOUSLY

So, if you were rejected today. CALL.

^
I just got off the phone with my friend, and they’re really freaking busy.

I would give you her phone number, but she’s going to lunch. They usually have lunch from noon to one.

P.S.-She said they’re in deep ***T!

8588220790…good luck man

P.S. The number is 858-822-0790
