Official UCSD TAG Decisions Thread

Just thought I'd start a new thread for this, as the other one was getting a bit crowded.

Yes, even though UCSD is reportedly not going to be releasing TAG acceptances and will instead probably be emitting, like UCSB and UCI, shameful ambiguity, this thread can serve for everything UCSD TAG-related.

Oh and a special shout-out to all others like Grimes99 who have had to endure excessive and unnecessary administrative hassles at the expense of their own fate. May we finally be admitted this year to UCSD and thence be done with this forum once and for all come next spring :)

I approve  and Grimes99 has been very helpful to us UCSD-hopefuls lol

hopefully UCSD doesnt ■■■ up this year.

hear, hear!

who said AM?

I’m sorry but I’m kind of confused. So UCSD will NOT be releasing their results for TAG?

I am also waiting for ucsd’s tag decision! I’m so excited.

@totaldj: they will, but they won’t give us definite acceptance like UCR or UC Davis.

WOO HOO! Haha Oliver_Twist, I would say “this is our year!” and give you the e-chest bump, but that would be extremely naive and premature knowing how UCSD works.

@totaldj: UCSD isn’t reviewing the TAG app this year, which is about as shocking as Ricky Martin coming out. Technically, you don’t even have to turn in the TAG app for UCSD this year since the only way they’re determining TAG eligibility is off the general UC app. Next year, they’re (allegedly) going to start using the TAG app like everyone else, but this year it’s more of a trial run with no bearing on your TAG acceptance.

inb4 UCSD accepts every single TAG application before realizing their mistake and sends out a humiliating follow-up rejection email.

poo i meant to post here, but i think theyre going to come out like 9/10am or if not, then around 4/5 when they close

True that lol.

@redopleases: Yeah I think it’s probably going to be towards the latter end of the day, as one of the innumerable flaws of UCSD’s administration is punctuality.

LOL^
10charizzle

Sorry but this TAG process with UCSD is getting more confusing by the minute. lol.

So we all know they are releasing their “decision” or “message,” whatever you want to call it, today.

They will not specifically state “Congratulations” but will instead give us a response like that of UCI and UCSB, right?

Someone mentioned that they aren’t even reviewing TAG applications…if that is the case then EVERYONE who tagged to UCSD will receive the SAME response from them? no?

Only time will tell my friend.

@Berialove: Yeah, no way are we getting a “congratulations!” from UCSD today. I’d be surprised if we got anything, but it’s probably going to be a “thanks for applying for TAG, hopefully we’ll see you in the fall!” kind of thing.

sigh.

UCSD is my #1 choice.
I live in SD and its always been my dream school. Its nice hearing from the other schools but frustrating when it comes to UCSD. haha. I’m just annoyed. But we shall see what happens…

@op

UCI’s tag response wasn’t exactly ambiguous. From the other thread

It was ambiguous in writing, but the message (whether your TAG was approved or not) was made clear from the quoted text.

Yeah same for UCSB. I think if people get flat out denied for SD, they pulled the same thing as UCI and SB.

Well it has arrived.

This is what mine says. In bold is some personal commentary.

Dear Oliver,

Thank you for filling out the UC Online Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) for fall 2011. We’re glad
you’re considering UC San Diego for these next four significant years of your life! Lol, so is this to say that their suggested graduation time for transfer students is FOUR years? That’s money-sucking, isn’t it? Actually, it probably means that the person writing that was so superficial and ignorant at the same time that h/she wasn’t writing to Freshmen students. lol?

First, you’ll need to file your application for admission to the University of California before the end of the filing period on November 30. Don’t forget to check the 2 boxes you need as a TAG applicant:

1. UC San Diego TAG
2. IGETC

You must check both boxes! !

After you submit your UC Application online, we’ll send you an email confirming receipt
and letting you know about next steps. looking forward to getting it sometime before Fall 2011

Second, make sure to complete any remaining requirements for TAG. If you meet all conditions for
TAG, your admission to UC San Diego is guaranteed. lol, really?

As a transfer student, you’ll want to learn about your major early on and complete as many
lower-division preparation courses as possible before transferring. Learn more about major
preparation on the UC Transfer Admissions site. a link would be nice, as your website is quite massive, in spite of google power.

Remember the deadline to submit the UC Application is November 30, 2010.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Office of Admissions
UC San Diego

Oh well, it’s interesting that it’s somewhat more cordial than UCI’s message.

^ Got exactly the same thing, the only thing I want to know if they sent out rejection responses as well.
