Since Econ is not impacted, as long as I do my pre-reqs and whatever else I need to finish, I should get in, correct?

Or since you said they haven’t even looked at them yet, the response means nothing? I have a 3.8 GPA, most pre-reqs done, IGETC done by spring, internship, deans list, etc. etc., do you think that would be good enough?

Yes, finish IGETC and you’ll be in without question with that GPA.

UCSD doesn’t do comprehensive reviews, so the only thing that matters is your academic history. Dean’s list, internerships, EC, personal statements, etc. don’t matter to them.

Also, with a 3.8 and TAG you’ll probably be in the first batch of who they accept (3 batches last year.)

Grimes I have a question, so personal statement essay wouldn’t matter to them so you don’t really have to do them at all? Would that matter for UCSB as well? Also I completed almost everything possible except 1 math class for my Management science major. And my GPA is hovering around 3.4 to 3.5, however I failed one of the course in Cal Poly but it wasn’t for Management science major at all. My CC GPA at the moment is 3.8 but that F is dropping me by a little bit however I’m planning to make it up in my spring of 2011.

mhmm i got a different response. I got accepted in the UCSB tag but UCSD gave me a letter that stated I MAY be ineligible for TAG for UCSD…

can anyone tell me whats the difference between the TAG agreements between SD and SB?
I mean I got the tag from SB… but not from SD? did they just fu*ked up. Because I checked if I am ineligible… and there was nothing I could find that would make me not?

can you post your “maybe ineligible” TAG response? It would help us better evaluate what it means. As for SB, most people have categorized them as either you got the acceptance or the denial to TAG.

Julietxx3, is this the same you got? And yea, several people have gotten mistakes including myself (UC Davis). Nothing you can do about it though, since they cannot re-evaluate your tag…

just copied this from Doomman on the other thread. I guess there are two categories! Sorry to those who got the “may not be eligible” but thanks for letting everyone know there was another kind. Appreciate your sharing.

Dear _________,

Thank you for filling out the UC Online Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) for fall 2011. We’re glad
you’re considering UC San Diego for these next few significant years of your life!

Here’s some important information: It appears from your application that you may be ineligible to be considered a TAG applicant. But we still want to encourage you to apply as a regular transfer. Depending on completion of transfer admission requirements as well as competitiveness in the applicant pool, UC San Diego could be a great choice for you.

After you submit your UC Application online (deadline: November 30), we’ll send you an
email confirming receipt and letting you know about next steps.

As a transfer student, you’ll want to learn about your major early on and complete as many
lower-division preparation courses as possible before transferring. You can learn more about major
preparation on the UC Transfer Admissions site.

Remember the deadline to submit the UC Application is November 30, 2010.

not similar, a flat out denial from Davis. but their reasoning was that I did not meet English and GPA requirements, which I actually did. I put down my English courses and the calculator on the application showed my gpa was above what was needed. It’s ridiculous LOL. It’s okay, I’m over it. Several people on the other threads have been complaining about the same thing. Check em out.

what do you mean??
mines (and several others):

"First, you’ll need to file your application for admission to the University of California before the end of the
filing period on November 30. Don’t forget to check the 2 boxes you need as a TAG applicant:

1. UC San Diego TAG
2. IGETC

"

and a couple other people have claimed to have this:

“Here’s some important information: It appears from your application that you may be ineligible to be considered a TAG applicant. But we still want to encourage you to apply as a regular transfer. Depending on completion of transfer admission requirements as well as competitiveness in the applicant pool, UC San Diego could be a great choice for you.”

julietxx3, yeah its okay. and at least u got ucsb :]

go to the main TAG thread. its huge though. I would suggest looking at posts starting from nov 10th or 12th, because that’s when most of the UCs had came out. Anything earlier may not have the information you’re seeking lol

Like I said in the other thread…until someone posts up a screenshot of this “other” letter we should all just assume its a ■■■■■. Only two people got the other letter and neither have posted before this evening. I would LOVE to be proved wrong, but I dont think its going to happen.

As of right now the UCSD letter means nothing, and you guys should believe that until proven otherwise.
